This track played in my playthrough some weeks before the first "whiteout". It really delivered the same feeling of hopelessness, despair and dread like the track "before the storm" from Frostpunk 1 Especially the part at 2:43 freaky spine chills 🥶

This one started out much happier and uplifting and slowly went down into dread and despair, much like a bunch of FP1 had in its OST, but this one does have a more grandeur feel to it aswell compared to FP1

I think it's a good way of viewing the two games. The first was about fighting for your own survival, the odds against you. Each person lost was devastating and the stakes were high for you and a few hundred people. In this game, you're fighting not just for your survival but for the continuance of the city. You have hope to make it but you need to be careful and plan accordingly, basically using the one chance you got from the first game to the fullest potential. Instead of hundreds of people relying on you, it's thousands. The risks are higher, more lives are at stake with any misstep you might make.

until 2:00 it sounds like it belong in a futuristic setting like Blade Runner 2049. Imagine an intrincate detective story with nuclear powered generators and rogue AIs set in the Frostpunk universe...

Does anyone know which instrument plays at 2:50 for example. (this short melody) My first though was that its a Marimba with a type of echo effect

The echo I have no idea but the string is likely a cello

more clear sound is at 2:37, given the nationality of the composer, it might be dulcimer or balalaika, it has very strong reverb so it's hard to know
