We survived the Great Storm but the path ahead is still marked with toil. A finding outside New London seems to be a blessing, but doesn’t every miracle come with a price? Lead the expedition to explore the uncharted parts of Frostland in Frostpunk: On The Edge. We are thrilled to announce that the third and final expansion for its bestselling survival city-builder is coming to PC this August 20th.
While Frostpunk’s previous expansion, The Last Autumn, served as a prequel, On The Edge picks up when the base game has ended. The storm has exposed an army warehouse from times before the evacuation. A scouting party is sent from New London to set up an outpost and a steady chain of supplies. It’s time to take another step on the laborious path of rebuilding hope and leading humankind to survival. But… the world of Frostpunk is still full of embroiled dualities: trust or skepticism, independence or domination, union or separation. The question is, what path will you take?
Near the outpost, there are no animals to hunt, so you’ll be depending on food sent from New London and their favors are not inexhaustible. They have their demands too. The good part is that the weather is not so severe here, on the edge. For now, the people have managed to survive without a Generator, but for how long? Will you be able to lead them for survival, far from the capital city of New London? Play On The Edge - the final chapter of the thrilling Frostpunk story!

I loved this way this showed what it was like for outposts. In the base came it's a matter of dragging and clicking and you get a few supplies every few days. This DLC showed the actual work that went into such outposts (although with a lot more people in them!). Kind of like how The Last Autumn gives you an appreciation for the work that went into the generators.

I remember way back when we first translated the DLC to be code name RECONQUEST, how ideas ran wild of war between the cities, or going back to London and reclaiming it from the dreaded winter, the idea of automatons with guns bolted on them were fun. Then On The Edge came and changed things, but now. With it being a military warehouse and the specific mention in the steam announcement about "domination" being a factor. I wonder if those ideas will be revived now. Hyped to see what you guys have in store for us, been playing since before The Last Autumn and this is by far one of my favorite games in my library. Can't wait to play and stream it on the 20th, stay safe guys. And let the camp survive!

I know the rumor of a RPG in the universe. But something that I would really like to see would maybe be short films fleshing out the story before the frost, in the same style as the openings to each scenario. But we definitely plan to revisit the world of Frostpunk in the future.

Scientifically speaking the snow in frostpunk late game is actually Carbon Dioxide, the stuff falling from the sky that is. In a global winter earths primary source of movement is not water with a 0% condensing point, it's solid carbon dioxide which freezes at -70, which we've seen is an easy thing to hit.

I beat it first try but it was so close. I had to get 3000 coal for New London, but only had like 900 stockpiled. Forced everyone to work as many 24 hour shifts as I could, and managed to get them the coal in the last ingame hour possible.

Looks like it's been made in flash animation, reminds me of a webcomic done awhile back by two brothers. It's vector based which meant you could zoom in and see little details they did. If I didn't know better I'd say they did it.

@@prodbyflo Some parts of the video seem to be in 3d (mostly the city and the mountain), and thus there are very probably low poly, but the overall style is indeed 2d vector animation in layers (probably with Adobe Animate or some compositing in After Effects, all from actual drawings), looking like flash animations from the old days. Basically it's just drawings displacements and some particle I effects. But the style of these drawings perfectly fits and it looks gorgeous.

This is awesome! Just as I finished the other scenarios, too. Hopefully you guys decide to do a second game. Maybe it's set in the south with the wild storms and the weather is super unstable and swings wildly between ultra high and ultra low temperatures, and you gotta manage both heating AND cooling (or if not set in the south, maybe we try to fix the cooling and it goes horribly wrong). Imagine how cool it would be if they made DLC based on book "Inverted World". In two words its about people moving on train-wheeled city, mounting rails before, and dismantle them after city was moved. Its very troublesome process, they moving with speed 1mile/3 days, and if city ever stops they all gona die. I think its very suitable setting for this kind of gameplay. Hope devs will see this.

I would love to see a coop third or first-person frost punk game where people need to work together to keep the heat on as a community, with a massively open and cold world. go out alone and or with friends/randoms and try your best to find anything of use to stay alive. bring it all back to the hub world where everyone lives (similar to how destiny has a tower for example but with a frost punk theme/vibe. you must split what you need personally to survive and what the hub world needs for fuel and or items for the entire community this would also be a cool way to interact with the community for the devs as well to give us a monthly event that lasts two weeks, have the outside world similar to how destiny works but maybe with a little rng with map layout so each time you go out things are a little different, with no map and no hope you and or your team of four must try to climb up and or down into buildings and cities to find resources, have a grappling hook to help solo players and a buddy system similar to how army of two works with climbing walls and traversing an area. that's about all I can think of for now but if anyone else has any ideas please feel free to pop them below.

Well, guys, thank you for these amazing journey which started somewhat 3 years ago. This is one of the best games which happened to me. Actually, I'm very sad that this journey ends. Hope you'll come up with the sequel, which expands and continues the story. Despite it's a harsh and desperate world, but it's really bitter feeling to leave it.

@11 bit studios As a city management / simulation fan, I must say Frostpunk is up there with the big names like Anno in terms of quality content. Some feedback - Give players more options to acheive goals rather than forcing them on a path to meet the goals. Also allow players to continue their game after they complete the main storyline for each scenario. Keep up the excellent work!
