@@macsis6338 Having mid-screen moves doesn't automatically disqualify him from being a grappler. Potemkin has Slide Head, Tager has Spark Bolt, Kanji has most of his Persona moves, and so on. What sets their tools apart from other archetypes is that they tend to have some notable flaw that prevents them from being used in normal situations. Slide Head does no damage, Spark Bolt needs to charge between uses, and Kanji's Persona breaks easily. With Texas, while his cowbells are strong in combos, they all have dead zones in their hitboxes, meaning they can whiff if used recklessly. The only 'true' grapplers I could think of off the top of my head without mid-screen options would be Zangief, Machamp, and Subject 11, but even they have options at mid-screen designed to get them up close at some sort of risk.

Watching an obviously unbalanced, grossly overpowered character win an entire tournament with like, 50% perfects isn't very entertaining. No wonder I never hear serious fighting game fans talk about this game.

Zale makes Oleander look broken, but there's a reason he's the only Oleander that consistently places well in majors. She's not broken, her skill cap is just very high and Zale's way ahead of the competition. That being said, you are right that the game is not balanced very well, especially the newer characters. Unfortunately it probably won't really be fixed either due to the publisher firing most of the team and basically running the game into the ground before it had the chance to catch on.
