@@Ion0X nbnhmr is no stranger to top 8s in stacked ggst tournament brackets and has shown himself as capable of handling the pressure of playing on stage well at ceotaku 2022, so i doubt it was nerves that got to him. rather, i think it was his controller failing on him for the first time that shook him up here and in the losers' bracket. on a more positive note, i will say that nbnhmr played the zato and happy chaos matchups, both being matchups that traditionally are horrendous for nago and his rather limited mobility, really well. he could have taken his set against aarondamac, but aaron simply played better at the very end. great games all around, and plenty of material to study.

Like he was using moves at too high blood and blood raging for no reason and he was burning meter trying to a do an instant overhead he hasn't fully mastered yet so he kept missing it. Love seeing Tene show single hit drill into drunkard off of 2k2d knockdown to safely meaty into sandwich pressure. Glad that piece of tech is catching on, its also something you can do in the corner into oppose as well to prevent fuzzy jumping out. EDIT: Leo looking like one of the strongest tournament picks at the moment as usual.

Zato's got quite the learning curve, if you aren't familiar with negative edge or how to control puppet characters you're gonna need some time to learn But I promise you, it's worth it, once you get a handle on how to control him and Eddie, you'll be hitting opponents with mixups they can barely comprehend

There are a ton of fighting game options on the horizon, if you're itching to add a fighting game to your roster, this game is very easy to get into compared to previous guilty gear games. It's the perfect entry point and has enough depth, great music, decent mechanics, rollback netcode, etc. As someone else mentioned, it is pricey as it's generally always full box retail and then you got dlc etc, but arcsys does sales pretty often on steam at least. And the value goes up exponentially if you have one irl friend that will play with you. I don't regret my strive purchase but definitely looking forward to gbvs rollback, sf 6, and that rumored next netherealm game be it another injustice or MK

As a Celestial Leo main, there are two things that give me trouble: 1) When the opponent knows how to defend against backturn pressure 2) Opponents who play defensively in neutral for 1) If you guessing on high/low instead of using fuzzy defense options and backdashing/FDing, you are gonna get smoked. Understand his options, especially after he presses backturn slash. 2) Since Leo's buttons have slower startup than a lot of characters, he often looks to whiff punish or counter aggression from opponents. If someone plays patiently and forces me to initiate offense and come to them, it is harder with more of a chance they land a counter hit or stuff out my moves. That is why Chipp/Millia/Gio into Leo is a bad matchup for them...by design they are meant to be offensive rushdown characters.

@Cressx I'm a level 2200 gio. It's annoying to have a character with a similar step dash, eith moves that generally out range yours in the ground and the air. I'll try fuzzying more on defense, but it's annoying to be put in those situations more often because I play a character that's reliant on risky pressure. I'll go grind the matchup a bit more though

I think it’s just not a good mix of commentators, both are the hype style commentator and saint cola was obviously inspired/influenced by Yipes so they’re too similar style. Saint is great when theirs an analytical commentator to keep the flow.

The US has massive COVID and flu upticks during the winter months, although nothing is mandated, many conventions in the US require use of masks still and in some cases proof of vaccination with a booster. Every anime and tech convention I've attended in the past 2 year has required masks, I am vaccinated with boosters, and caught it twice. I'm not sure how effective masks and vaccines are but I'm okay following protocol and it has yet to inconvenience me besides occasionally forgetting my mask in the car and having to run back for it.
