Just a heads up -- health stacks have changed since this video's creation -- Ranger is now 100 health and 100 armor, but spawns with 125 health (which deteriorates down to 100 over time) Also, the holding forward only for 400 UPS thing is no longer in the game -- Ranger's speed cap is down to 310, which is in-line with all other Medium champions. None of this changes you how play ranger, and he's just as tanky as he's always been!

Ranger doesn't take 25% less self inflicted damage. He takes ONLY 25% self inflicted damage. That is a reduction of 75% instead of 25%.

Naaa. This game has the potential to bring back arena shooters in a big way. The free weekend brought the numbers up so much that you can easily get into a TDM within in 30 sec to a minute at any time of the day. They're doing it right. The way they treat the players is also very respectful. It's up to Peele like Frothy now to keep the hype up. I hope Id is treating the promoters good as well.

so afte rmany matches with ranger (and finally against PEOPLE!) I found I was doing quite well still (with a more realistic K/D haha) and bought the champion pack. One thing I LOVE aboout this gam, like Unreal 4, is the lack of RNg and random, all fails are down to me, all wins are down to me. Its so nice after Tf2 to feel like I'm playing a game and can tell when I'm doing good or bad, Tf2 never really gave me that feeling. Oh, thanks for doing these guides, I'm enjoying being the Shub slayer! Though, hearing him throughout the match now makes me want a Quake remake with teh modern engine!

Nice guide! But for newbies and low skill players orb frags will be a bit hard. You could mention that you can throw Dire Orb on the ground to get rid of distance calculation. For example ScaleRush, its very easy for anyone to get right timing, when Orb is not moving.

Only problem I have with Quake Champions is that requires beast PC to play. I'm on 10 years old laptop, and running GNU/Linux OS, so I choose more reliable arena shooters like OpenArena, Xonotic and Cube 2.

Telefrag is no longer guaranteed. It’s been patched to deal damage when you teleport into someone, not sure of the exact number ... 400ish? But it’s now possible to survive this if you’re fully stacked up apparently.

I just started the game, but I played Q3 a lot before. There are many champion for noobs in the game, Sorlag, Death Knight, BJ, while the other characters are just OK. The game has still missing on champions(playable chars) tough, and how many years since its came out?4? LOL The devs should focus and add 5-8 champ, and +4-5 maps too. This content is weak, and unbalanced, thats why has low playerbase, and players leaving...there are much much better games to play. There are just the veterans whose still playing, 60% of the game is dead. They hyped the game, but its weak AF.

I do believe that ranger may be a bit OP, yes. But that may be more a virtue of his ability than anything else. He's rock solid, and he's supposed to be rock solid because he's "quake-guy" much like doom has the "doom guy." I'm not sure there's a problem, but maybe dire orb could stand to have a bit longer of a cooldown!

BJ definitely yes. Doom is fine but I don't recommend because he teaches bad habits.

Yeah I was working with an editor on this video. He took some liberties with the music. I will make sure we keep the old intro and outro songs, and work to iron out a few other idiosyncrasies that makes the video not feel like an "authentic" Frothy video

If you are looking for some DM matches with people in doomseeker (which you can get if you install Zandronum on its own site) Look on friday as there are more people on the servers, that doesn't mean you cannot Check in other days, just to let you know that you need to also have the doom2 wad, considering its a mod, and one more thing, you are gonna need to bind your controls.

Sometimes getting somewhere 5 seconds faster is worth losing a bit of health. Especially for Ranger, since he takes less self-damage than any other champion. Consider that you're standing at heavy armor and you badly need to get the railgun. Do you rocket jump up, or walk all the way to the middle of the map to hit the jump pad, then walk all the way back? Sometimes, saving that time makes all the difference in you getting a kill, or avoiding a death.
