Frozen Beaver Dam Removal Day 6

This was a short visit. The beavers left me a suprise, and the snow was almost gone. I cleared a bit of the new blockage but had to leave the water flow fairly low. Once the beavers are gone, I will get that water flowing again!!

How many beavers do you think live in this immediate area? Did the beavers use material that you removed earlier? Hey Mariagdaws 👋 Yes, they work fast! 🦫 🪵 🎄 🌳 People always know where I am going. Hopefully, I tell the right people anyway, lol. Someone should come looking. The town/municipality actually sends me out to do this work. Eventually, they would miss me. 😆 It is really hard to tell how many beavers were in there. They were trapped this summer as well. It could be as much as a dozen. It was a pretty big house. I will take pictures when I am done. It looks like they reused some of the material I removed. There were some new trees and branches in there as well. No problem, the comments are the best part. I learn a lot from them. Thanks for watching! 👀 👍 🦫 🪵

Hey Connie, 👋 Yep, hard work💪 lol. I left traps there before I left. They just don't show up well in the video. There is a couple in the hole I made and a couple to the side of the dam. We shall see what happens.....👀 🦫

Hi Gene, Not sure why you said you can't keep unblocking the dam, us YT viewers kind of shrugged at that point and said "we'll be here for it". I want to see that lake drained. Good luck catching the beavers though, they are so annoying. It's the mess that I don't like, huge swamps and mud and broken, dead trees and great piles of well, mess. I think they bring out a latent OCD tendency for me. Or maybe it's me being English? Where I live ( Stonehenge area) they cleared the land approx. 4 to 5000 years ago and then the Romans built roads everywhere approx. 2000 years ago. I like it ordered.

Hi Excession, 😆, I bet. Thanks, I should get them pretty quick. I am surprised they did not show up the first day. They sure make a mess but also create some pretty nice areas out in the bush. Not so much in farm fields and culverts, lol. I know what you mean. It just doesn't look right and needs to be put back in order.

I don't understand your need to destroy these animals. There are so many benefits to beaver: fish and wildlife habitat in the ponds, fire resistance, drought resistance, water table regeneration, flood reduction, silt capture, etc. I get it if the dams are flooding a road or barn, but I don't see that here. There are so many places people are building beaver dam analogs to repair the ecosystems damaged by beaver removal. Just respectfully asking folks to consider the benefits of letting nature exist.

Hi Windsong. Great question or statement, I guess it is. I agree with everything you said about beavers. They are my favorite animal by far. The part you got wrong is that all my videos are for nuisance beaver calls. It may not look that way, but I assure you all my videos are located on municipal drains. This means that the municipality or township is responsible for keeping the water flowing and at required levels for drainage. This is where I come in. I am actually commissioned to do this on behalf of our local government. I hope to get a drone eventually so I can show this in my videos. The area I live in is remote, so there can be 100's of acres between farms and homes. Things are just different here than where you may be. We have a huge population of beavers that never stop causing problems here. I am either protecting roads, homes, farm fields, or culverts. Something else to note, none of these dams have been there very long. I am literally returning the water levels back to where they need to be. This particular video shows what was a farm field at one point. Off in the distance to the left is a hiway. It will be neat to show this from the air with a drone. Believe me, these animals are monitored/protected, and a license is required to do this. I have to keep records and maintain strict quotas set out by our Ministry of Natural Resources. This was kind of neat. They usually fix the dam far sooner than it took them this time. I am back working there now. It's been raining non-stop for a week now. It's hard to 🎥.
