Unclogging Culvert from Beavers

This one is a little different. I don't get a lot of culvert jobs to do, but this one was pretty good. It is a good example of how quickly 🦫 's can make a road disappear. My 2nd camera battery was dead for some reason. It must have turned on in my bag. It would have been nice to see the other side of the culvert as the water drained. Another lesson learned...🤦 🔋
If you watch closely, you can see all the blood suckers and leaches swimming around my legs. This would have been the wrong one to fall in on.

Wow! I did not think you were going to find that pipe. It was majorly buried. Your perseverance saved the day. With all the pushing and pulling you do to take down the dams and unclog the culverts, I would not want to get in an arm wrestling match with you. Another fun video in beautiful Canada!

Hi Mark, 👋 Thank you very much. I did pull out the sticks after a while. I waited until the water slowed down a bit. Most if it washed away. I was pretty disappointed when I went to turn on my 2nd 📷 lol. I got it all set up and everything, haha. It had to have turned on in my backpack.

You could see the gas bubbles coming up when you first got into the water and moved around in it and then when you got out you could see the leeches swimming around where you were standing. Took awhile, but you got it - nice work. Would have loved to see the other end of the culvert when you first broke it open.

Hi Allan, 👋 Thanks! That happens at every dam or wherever there is fresh mud from 🦫's. I wish it smelled better, but I kind of like it, lol. The leaches were aggressive. I could see them swimming at my feet the whole time. And every time, I had to stick my hands in the water too, 😬. I will get the low side next time for sure. I was pretty disappointed when I went to turn on my 2nd camera. 🤦

Could put a beaver grate in front of the culvert so they don't stuff it full of crap again, make it easier to clean a crate instead of a packed culvert.

Hi Judy, 👋 They are terrible! I used to catch/trap leaches for people who sell bait fish. Those ones had to be separated. They do not let go easily.....yuck!

Hi Gene So where did you get the wolf? I get that you are "in touch" with all the wildlife out on your own with just a rake to defend yourself. But but I didn't expect a wolf to turn up, lol. (OK, he/she is probably just a regular dog, but in that setting, in Canada, wolf seems more appropriate). Great job on the culvert. But not sure I really want to see blood suckers and leeches swimming around, the water looked nice for a paddle....and then reality goes and spoils it. Seriously outside the UK, how does anybody survive? Even the turtles snap.

Is this your job? Are you a beaver whisperer? I heard you say something about asking the town if they would want you to open the culvert? Where is this beaver population? I live in Houston Tx. The closest that I've come to a beaver is the Discovery channel. 😆

Hi, upsjacki. It is my job! I don't exactly whisper to them, though.😬 I am actually a trapper who gets hired by our town to go do this. Certain places are hard/costly to access with equipment. It's quite a bit cheaper to send me in with a 🛶 and 💪. I am in Northern Ontario, Canada. 🇨🇦. We are pretty much over run with 🦫 's here.
