Maybe Elsa is a little bit of a coward, but that wasn’t truly her fault; she was absolutely stunted emotionally by her parents. They were well meaning, but crippled her to the point where she couldn’t interact with the world in any way except in fear. They didn’t teach her how to do anything but hide and fear herself as much as they feared her. Case in point: Hans wouldn’t have had time to build chains specifically for her so quickly. They already existed. Her parents had them ready for her. And maybe this is the older sister in me, but I absolutely hate the fact that Anna chose that moment in front of everybody to lay out the family drama. She forced that confrontation and the exposure and was like wow I wonder why no one tells me anything, but really if she was gonna be angry with anyone about the dynamic and lack of communication, she should’ve been mad at the parents. All I can say here is that for all Hans is a villain, he really just capitalized on their parents’ bullshit that already existed.
