One great thing about One Piece is: Not everything is explained HOW it works (the exact mechanics), which keeps the mystery, but basically always it's explained WHY it exists. Like the sea train. There is a reason it exists, there is someone who made it and it will be explained in that way.

While I have no direct evidence to back this, I believe Aokiji only froze the first few inches or a few feet of the ice. If he's going to apologize to a dolphin he's not going to freeze all them fish. Plus Lazy Justice would encourage him to do the bare minimum. (I'm great at parties)

There are only 3 Admirals, but there’s a buttload of Vice Admirals and lower ranks. Other than the singular Fleet Admiral(of which there can obviously only be 1) the Admiral is the only rank that has a specific limit. Makes them more scary, because they have to be unbelievable monsters to achieve that rank that is so limited as Aokiji demonstrates using just a tiny fraction of his power in these episodes.

in an old version of romance dawn in the manga, luffy's grandpa was pretty much an open secret. i wouldn't be surprised if oda was going off of that logic & approved of the reveal in the live action from there

From what i understand it's mostly that the showrunners argued and pushed a lot for this , and he caved . After all Oda did everything to hid the prototype with the way he designed the final version of Garp . In hindsight it's a reveal that could happen at many points of the show , so why not there ? I pretty much disagree with that choice the Live Action made , but i guess they needed some hype reveal and twist to generate some more hype and interest , right of the bat in season 1 .

after watching this part a couple of times, you notice how Aokiji proceeded, and it was VERY smart, he was saving people, but he saw the pirate ship so he waited to engage with the pirates, the survivors came along, so he played nice, not escalating anything, when everyone was clear, he went into no bullshit mode, he probably knew the could take the straw hats, but took no chances of risking civilians

Ok, important note about the Admirals that can get confusing in the future if you aren’t aware of it. Aokiji is not his name. It’s his callsign. In Japanese it means “blue bird” (pheasant specifically). There will come points where we learn/refer to the admirals by both their real names and their callsigns, such as flashbacks to before their promotions, or in scenes with close friends.

There's truly nothing I can say that can prepare you for the total rollercoaster that is Water 7 & Enis Lobby. I just wish you could do these more often or more at a time cause once it gets into it you won't be able to stop at 2 episodes. You'll need to keep going and it will consume you. But yes this is definitely the start of peak One Piece.

You also have to keep in mind that One piece is a world of islands, some are much bigger than others but they don’t have anything continent sized, so imagine being a regular person in this world seeing someone who can freeze an entire section of ocean between two islands. Even more important is that this negates how untrustworthy directions usually are in the Grand Line.

Doesn't really negate it. A straight path will always be a straight path in the Grand Line, but being on a ship, on water, going a straight line is VERY difficult, even in the normal world. Add strong currents, winds, changes to weather and climate and navigating the Grand Line would be nigh impossible. Until they invent GPS anyway

Each Admiral has a color in their name. Aokiji is blue pheasent/peacock for instance. I consider Aokiji to be in truth the 3rd most powerful of the Admirals 1=Purple 2=Red But when ya meet the others I think you will hold other opinions at first as I did. I mean how many miles of ocean did he casually make a bridge out of this episode? Lets say its roughly 5 miles of travel a day minimum so 5 days would be at minimum 25 miles of ocean and what half a mile wide... that's a ridiculous feat for casual strength. His max could conceivably be like 5 or 6 times that so what 150 miles and 1.5 miles wide. Thats like a Rhode Island of Ice in the F'n Ocean that is not exactly easy to freeze. how is one to fight that much Cold.

Let me defend LRLL a little bit. In the manga it is only 19 chapters and takes place right after the intensity of Skypia. Its a very good read qnd Foxy gives luffy legit difficulty. But most importantly ther is only ONE davy back fight. In the anime we got the amzing filler of G8 qs a relief and then 13 episodes of LRLL. Its a mess. If the arc had been 5 episodes, 1 for stet up, 1 for round 1, 1 for round 2 and 2 for the final round and wrap up... maybe it could have been good.
