I kinda appreciate the longer recaps, especially later on when they are only adapting 1 chapter per episode. I would rather sit through (or skip) 5 minutes of recap instead of watching an episode with 5 minutes of padding throughout.

Nerdy just look at the straw hats and understand that because some characters are goofy it doesn’t mean they aren’t competent. One of the many things One Piece does best is that every character has some quirk about their personality no matter how serious they are in other things. Like why would you want CP9 to be a bunch a Copy paste serious personalities

Luffy didn't need to show you Gum-Gum Storm before defeating Crocodile. Luffy didn't need to show you Gum-Gum Bazooka before defeating Buggy. Luffy didn't need to show you Gum-Gum Rifle before hitting Enel.

Unfortunately the recaps and padding will only get worse from here until episode 1130, they finally have switched to a seasonal model to give the manga more time to make space and the animators more time to cook, and hopefully be allowed to adapt multiple chapters for each episode going forward

You need to understand the time period when these episodes were made. This is during Japans economic collapse. So for the next few hundred episodes you will get a lot less new animations to save money. This where the real filler startsh.

Honestly the pacing of enies lobby hurts it a little in my opinion and its why I prefer water 7 a bit more, but some of the most iconic moments in the series are here, so its still really good!

The pacing and the recaps are pretty dire in the anime, ngl. I managed to watch like maybe a hundred episodes before getting completely fed up with it and I didn't touch it again until around episode 1070. I'm mainly a manga reader and I'm just too impatient for the anime Altho I do actually like the current arc in the anime. I think it's been pretty good and the pacing is only a struggle in some of the fight scenes (and luckily it's not a very fight oriented arc), and I like how they've been fleshing out the scenes. Sure it's to play for time but it works because the manga version of that arc was pretty fast-paced itself, and skipped over a lot of transitions and a lot of the non-plot-relevant stuff. It's almost too fast in a way and I appreciated the anime slowing it down and adding little moments of the characters just hanging out, exploring, or showing how they ended up from point A to point B. As well as just expanding some quick one-panel moments from the manga to make them into actual scenes

It’s pretty cleat it’s only a Cipher Pol measurement, so it makes sense it disappears from the story after this arc. The only real point of it was to create a power hierarchy within CP9 for the readers/viewers.

The recaps do not in fact get better, its a consistent irritant throughout pretty much all the arcs that as the arc goes on the recaps get aburd. Recap combined with opening and closing theme leaves some episodes with barely 10 minutes of actual show sometimes.

That’s a matter of opinion. I got through the entirety of Thriller Bark without issue but nearly clocked out at Impel Down because of the boring pacing. You can’t go skipping stuff now
