Great video today, Larry. Your “What Are We Eating” series is what I like about your channel. I don’t eat frozen meals as much as I used to when I lived in Chicago. The frozen and processed meals I used to eat frequently were from Aldi instead of the Dollar Tree and Walmart. Now, I’m eating homemade meals and better meat instead of highly processed meals and slurry concoctions with TVP or MSG all the time. Also, I work at a grocery store where several of my clients keep buying frozen meals, some of which are the ones that you’ve featured on your channel. Your videos are amazing. Keep up the good work!

I remember frozen meals as a kid. The only ones I got were the one with chicken tenders, fries, and a brownie. I hated when those were all out because everything else included macaroni and cheese or mashed potatoes, which I honestly can't stomach.
@ddt38314 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Aldi - you need to do some of the Aldi's "Kirkwood" brand foods - I find them to be mostly hit or miss! Like Dollar Tree, only BIGGER :)
@aristidastankus80434 жыл бұрын
DDT I remember eating Kirkwood Chicken Breast Nuggets (breaded nugget shaped patties with rib meat) and heating them up in the microwave. There were instances where they tasted and looked soggy once microwaved. Back then, I didn’t care about the ingredients as much as I do now. And yes, just like in some other frozen meals, the Kirkwood Chicken Breast Nuggets with rib meat contain MSG-like ingredients; looking back at the memories of me eating highly processed foods while growing up in Chicago, I now realize that what I was eating isn’t something I would like to continue buying to this day due to the amount of sodium (720 mg). But that is a great suggestion for Larry to try for his future videos.

The Stouffer's bowl fills slow roasted steak and mashed potatoes is pretty good and for the price. You're getting real good tender cuts of steak and crisp refreshing blanched vegetables in there we've also sauteed onions. It's got a rich savory taste that I really have enjoyed and I recommend this to anybody to try.

"Autolyzed yeast extract" whut? But that said, is this the first frozen meal that looks like the result on the packaging?
@gioandres2054 жыл бұрын
It's basically a nutritional extract used to add umami flavor and richness to foods. Plus it's good for you!
@HayTatsuko4 жыл бұрын
To expand on Gio Andrés 's fine comment: Marmite and Vegemite are examples of yeast extracts. They add savoury flavour to dishes (and, alas, often a lot of sodium). Aside from the salt (when present), they are not intrinsically harmful -- just sources of umami, as you might find in Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, or tomatoes.
@MWDoom4 жыл бұрын
It's yeast MSG.
@randywatson83474 жыл бұрын
@@gioandres205 I know, but it's the "Autolyzed" part that baffled me.
@ein3114 жыл бұрын
Autolysis is the process when yeast basically "eats" itself; the yeast breaks down and their cell walls are destroyed. Autolyzed yeast is just a fancy way of saying broken down yeast.

Corn is always a good choice. I don't know how they ruin mixed vegetables. I have to describe them as wrinkled and weirdly chewy. I either mix them in the gravy, if there is any, or throw them out. Drowning them in butter doesn't help. But this looks really good so will try it. Thanks. I gave up on Stouffers a long time ago because it wasn't as good anymore. And I loved their family size vegetable lasagne but don't see it anymore?
