That's a good tip, I'd add that you should mark it with a vertical stick like a flag--if it snows over the night it would be easy to lose your waterbottles. I also have a jacket with a large inner packet that I keep my waterbottle in, which is a better choice, but this bury trick would be good for extra water you may have.
