I just bought the X-lite Pro, and the 18650 caps don't close over my 18650 battieries (Panasonic NCR18650BD). There is another YT video that suggests remove the two screws that hold the metal piece to the inside of the cap, throw away the spring and the screws, place a sheet of tin foil inside the metal piece, lock the metal piece over the battery and glue the plastic cap to the metal insert. I guess that works, but jeeze, come on FrSky! Is there an 18650 that fits without tossing the spring and screws?

The gyro function is brilliant for in flight adjustments. I fly gliders and I use them a LOT. I can use the rudder trim to adjust the snap flap rate when the radio is tilted left and snap flap expo when is tilted right. Shake it up and it will announce vario altitude. Given that you have openTX under the hood, it is just another tool and you can be creative :) Regarding the protocols, D8 is plainly illegal in Europe for new products and ACCESS implements cryptography that will be required by the law soon for professional drone operators and Frsky wants to be part of the game.

D8 is definitely a deal breaker as is the fact that we'd render all our other FrSky TX's useless once we upgrade RX's. Come on. At the very least FrSky should put in place a replacement program to trade their 'old' TX's for a very significant discount if they expect anything beyond a very slow organic adoption of this.

Great review. I like my X9 lite, still undecided as to whether to change up. Also D8 can be achieved through 3rd party multi-protocol modules like the iRangeX IRX4 lite (which fits the FrSky small module form factor used for the R9M lite module). Crossfire is still a bit of a hack to install (as it is competing with R9M), but should be doable.

Especially receivers in Mericas and things that have crap access to the receiver. Over the air updates but why? I have only twice ever flashed r-xsr to fport (which really was unnecessary) and otherwise they're all as they come out of the box. Just seems like a lot of work for no benefit. The only thing good with the x9 lite is the getting rid of JR module , which goes against computer peripheral common practice. The problem with JR module bay is that the header pins are way too long and pin holes are way too deep for common computer ribbon serial/parallel accessories. Every reviewer on youtube got caught off guard with lining up the long pins wrong and module malfunctioning problems. The module runs as a UART Unix ttyS0 peripheral, but the Japanese never caught up with computer peripheral business. They think the module is a special electronic device, like a Sony laptop. It took frsky and the rest of the world 50 years to fix it.

the only thing that is preventing using crossfire on these radios is the fact that TBS refuses to make a plastic adapter in the shape of FrSkys new module bay. I own both of these radios now and use them both with crossfire by having a buddy 3d print an adapter. The only hitch is that currently you have to use a nightly build of opentx until they next full release when it will work on the standard stable firmware. The firmware situation is exactly the same as when the original x-lite came out. first month or so you needed a nightly build but ever since then its been working fine.

For the people who are going bonkers about crossfire... I recently seen tests that crossfire switches to 50hz when you are flying further than 30 meters....

Is access ever coming to the QX7 firmware?

Can any of these radios accept an external rf module (like to use crossfire) ? Also for me the dual 18650 on the X9Lite is an upgrade. I did the switch for my X9D+ and with Li-ion I get above 3Ah 2S when it was around 2Ah with Li po. Also I had to pack them nicely and weld the plug on the batteries.

yes, both radios accept the crossfire with a homemade adapter or banggood adapter harness. The ergonomics are phenomenal on the X9.

Can anyone tell me why my fly sky fsi6 connects to my wizard but doesn’t actually do anything. It can’t arm or switch channels. I’m on beta flight and the receiver tab is all blank.
