16 years ago, I became so sick that afterwards, I had lost 1/3 of my legs and I'm in a wheelchair ever since. I feel like I'm missing out EVERYTHING healthy persons have and do. But then I understood that I have what others miss: time! I have all day to do what I like, I can go to bed when I want to, I can read or learn languages, I don't have to do anything I don't want to. Would I be happy to get my legs back? Of course. But having a handicap doesn't keep me from being happy and doing what I am able to and enjoy it :)

I was widowed 18 years ago at age 55. I was always a stay at home mom and had no marketable skills to get a job. Well God has been so faithful and I am still in my home. Don't ask how. Only He knows. And Sunday my 45 year old daughter was rebaptized. She had been at 9 years old. Wanted to do as an adult. Best day ever. Great preaching and proud momma.

Emmy, I just started watching your video and something in the background brought me to tears. My first lunch pail was the Mickey Mouse lunch pail that you have on your kitchen counter. I took it to school from 1st grade until 3rd grade. After that, I used it at home for storing all of my crayons. I could spending hours coloring and drawing! I don’t know what happened to my lunch pail but thank you for bringing me a happy memory. I also appreciate all the effort you and Paul put into sharing how to live a abundant life on less money. Your videos are wonderful!

Emmy, You are a joy! I love to see the positivity, humor and kindness that always show through in every episode, so one of the things I am grateful for is time spent watching one of your videos. I am enjoying a more frugal lifestyle as I have gotten older and I realize that being frugal does not mean feeling deprived. I don't compare my life to others with envy or judge others for their choices but rather enjoy my simple life to its fullest. I know that for me , feeling the need to be constantly on the go or being surrounded by more material things are not what brings me contentment or peace of mind. Your thoughts on your videos about living a frugal and happy life are echoes of my own thoughts and daily living routines. It makes me smile when you pull out your vintage dishes, take joy in finding good deals in food hauls and utilize your spatula , as I do the same! One needs to be grateful for your blessings and be mindful of spending and waste to minimize stress and help maintain a happy life.

I'm a closet fomo-ist, but I fight it fiercely. It's not relative to what others have or do... but relative to what I need that's on sale. Some times it works out a little bit OK, but not usually. It never gives me the peace that passes all understanding....only God can do that. Purchases make me grateful that God provides. My FOMO comes from feeling like I'm not receiving God's blessings to me. And yes, there is much better in life than FOMO, which FOMO can never give...you're so right, Emmy! Oh my goodness...that glorious hummingbird! Recipe looks SO scrumptious!! Thanks for sharing! Love to you! ❤

I loved seeing the hummingbird and the Bee Bomm! I have no idea how to spell that flower! Emmy, you can’t go to everything, be invited to everything, or buy everything. Taking it slow, enjoying where we go, enjoying our encounters with friends and waiting until we purchase what we really want is a Golden place to be. Mostly, I find my local community and church congregation events and friends are just enough. By the way, I bought my Instant Pot because it looked so useful and it worked out for me. I have not fallen into the air frier craze as the units take up too much space for what they accomplish. I guess it is very personal.

We can live an amazing, fun-filled, exciting life, while also being on a budget! I don't have 'FOMO' as I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything at all. My husband and I are on a debt-free journey at the moment, and we stick to a tight budget...but don't miss out on anything that matters to us. It's all about priorities I think. Absolutely guilty! My FOMO are organic food. Over the last years I have read so much about "you have to buy organic food", "only this food makes you stay healthy". It stresses me out! When I buy organic food because "they" tell me I have to do this, than in the first moment I am happy about all the healthy food. BUT, when I am at home I realize how expensive my haul was and that makes me unhappy. Also beauty products. Everywhere I read "buy only nature scincare, don't buy creams with mineral oil etc." And again, I bought the expensive nature creams and at the end I was not happier. Now I am working hard against this FOMO stress. I am so thankful for this reminder. Please stay healthy and being so wonderful ❤.
@rochellethundercloud3463 жыл бұрын
With organic,if you, personally did not grow it in a biodome, you.cannot verify it is in fact organic.wind blows pesticides, herbicided, etc all the time. As for skin care, make it yourself,or use the basic stuff that works for yoy

What I did to combat that is looked at how much sooner I could pay down my mortgage without a car payment and it checked me back into reality.

Great message! Thanks for putting it out there without being too preachy. I came across your channel recently after I cut cable tv....a frugal action. I'm liking the inspiration here. I'm retiring in about 4 years but had some unfortunate life circumstances that made good preparation for it not happen, so I'm playing catchup at age 62. I've made a casserole like your dish for years that my family loved. I made the creamed spinach and layered it in a baking dish with the ravioli on top with some diced tomatoes and crumbled and cooked italian sausage. Cover with foil and bake. It's not as fast as frozen but I found the dried tortellini worked well also. My bunch are meat lovers.

Thanks for clarifying that Amazon outlet, the warehouse was way out of my price range with nothing I could use. I will be making that recipe for myself with mushrooms not broccoli, LOL. Thanks Emmy;)

I call a lot of this as “ trying to keep up with the Joan’s “ . Striving for happiness is a must! A lot of times you may see them doing all these things but you really do not know what they are doing exp credit cards, loans etc

Beautiful introduction to your video. Thank you for your message about FOMO. Since starting my frugal journey, I've been so much more content, having time to nurture friendships, seeing family and spending lots of time in the garden and with my beautiful little cat Cherry. God bless you both ❤️

Luckily I never fell into the newest fad thing. Examples Keurig, air fryer, instapot. I like simple and basic. Unfortunately I have restarted cross stitching after 25 years and want every pattern and new dyed fabric. So have found ways to do it frugally. There are always ways to decrease costs if you think it through!

Hi Emmy, thank you for another video! My FOMO is traveling. I want to see as much as I can in this lifetime, but I know that frugal or not, it probably won't happen at the level I imagine it. However, with living a frugal lifestyle and eventually becoming debt free, I'll have the funds to save up for some nice trips! You're very right about having what's important to us right in front of us, one of my regrets is not spending more time with my grandparents and dad before they passed. Family is more important than my dreams of traveling, and I have them close by!

Love your comment Jemi! I'm sure you'll enjoy those trips!! Family is the ultimate I agree! Thanks for watching!

Another excellent video. There's so much to think about here. I was talking to a friend while walking in a beautiful park in Dublin and we said why rush off on holiday when we have nature and lush greenery on our doorstep. It's one of the best videos I've seen on frugality because it gets to the heart of it. Frugality is not missing out-its fun and makes one really creative in thought. I also have to say -i work as a cook and your recipe is one of those great recipes that can be adapted to add anything you like. Even a dash of tomato puree would add an extra dimension to it. Also I love the mixer (the kitchen aid-we call it that in Ireland) you have in the background. I know from experience in kitchens that a machine like that can last for years and has a multitude of purposes. Being frugal too means that one can spend money on proper things like that, even if they are expensive initially, they will last for years.

This was a great video! Through my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I have learned how to be content with what I have. I fail at this once in a while but but I always come back to my way of life.

I generally don't give a rip about keeping up with others. In one of the highest priced areas of the nation, I do admit I envy households with 2 incomes. In my mind, extreme frugality long term that barely affords needs could flip to massive ability to save and build wealth with another significant earner in the house. (Moving/2nd job not an option for certain reasons). Not good to dwell on this, but rather on being grateful and counting blessings. Thank you for such a positive, inspiring video!

I feel like you do about the FOMO feeling. I wish it didn't get to me but every once in a while it does. Luckily I am so blessed in my life that I don't give in to the feeling of missing out as often as I see others do. Love your channel and the message you inspire us with week after week.
