IME fashion isn't just what you wear, it's how you carry it. If you genuinely DGAF people will be impressed and maybe even try to copy you. It's like how I became the very first mask wearer in my workplace as soon as the Virus™ spread in my area (this was the same day Kobe died). People laughed at me, thinking that I was playing pretend surgeon, but eventually they went and copied my style. 🤪

"All art is a deviation of something, what matters is if you are able to bring something new to the table using this reference point." when did you become such an articulate speaker bro
@alexflores44582 жыл бұрын
All down to practice, making this videos and apparently he has a podcast so you become more able to improvise if you do it often, is like improvisation in jazz you aren't actually making a solo from scratch, you are just mixing chord progressions that you already know sound good by experience (take this concrete example with a grain of salt cause I'm not a musician) but this principle of "building blocks" it's applicable to many other fields.

My best way of learning my personal style was literally touching clothes. If you live somewhere with a lot of vintage stores and small boutiques, just go and look through the racks, try stuff on and you will sometimes just get this random spark. That's what you should look for. Big brands are so hard to use now because a lot of the stuff you actually see in-store isn't the very unique pieces, and are mostly the more commercial side of the brand, so using the smaller boutiques to find new cuts, shapes, and materials is the key.

A traumatic experience always gets the creative juices flowing. For me it was my gf of 2.5 yrs leaving me, parents getting divorced, grandma getting cancer, and having to find a new apartment because of my ex. Really made me find things to live for and strengthen myself Also it's not the fact that they got divorced, but them seeing me as an outlet for their issues that brings me down.

However, that wear it around the house thing is actually something I unintentionally did when I decided I wanted to start wearing rings. I have myself a month of wearing them all the time every day and if I wasn't happy with them after that then they can be shelved. I now never leave without a few rings on.

I have made a lot of research to find independent stores or stores that sell different brands or concepts but they are usually wayyyy above my budget and really not that common here i found like 3 after 4 days of looking around town and googling shit

What helps me is this....and it may sound strange.....but I just assume no one likes me and no one likes what I'm wearing. I assume that as a person, and thus my sartorial expressions from my person, is niche. Most people won't like it. Most people won't get it. Accept it. Get comfortable with it. Make sure you like it. Be confident in that. There are people out there who will like it and who will get it. I want to connect with THAT person. I go where I like and do what I like listen to what I like and wear what I like. Friends would tease me for wearing certain things (joggers, faded denim, fitted denim, patterns, colors, etc) and then 4 years later once some of that stuff was synthesized into something palatable for the main stream they were wearing a variant of the same thing they dissed me for wearing. It's fun. Be you.....no...find out who you are first then be that person.
