Emmie, an old friend of mine taught me this trick. After coming out of washer put in dryer for 5 min. Set the timer. All the wrinkles come out immediately and then just hang them up to dry. I think the initial 5 min of heat also helps start the drying process. I need to start hanging up my clothes again.

I found a shower faucet with the valve on clearance from $169 to $42 which is a fantastic deal and the best part is it matches the bathroom faucet for our remodel!! We now have everything for a complete bathroom remodel for less than $500. New walk in shower, shower doors, vanity and top, both faucets and the flooring. Everything we got everything on clearance, if we would have paid full price it would have cost over $5,000 so very happy! That's the only real purchase besides dog food that we have made this month on our no/low spend month. THANK YOU BOTH for the encouragement to keep going!!!!

Hi Emmy and Paul! (and Dixie) I have found that putting a dry clean bath towel in the dryer helps get things dry faster .My grandmother cooked the Wednesday night meal for our church for 39 years. She decided what was on the menu based on what was on sale at the grocery store. My husband and I just talked last night about getting back to making our own sandwich bread because bread is so high. I can buy the bread flower for same price as a loaf of bread! I am going to try this recipe but may leave the potato skin on. Thank you for sharing your lives with us!

I hang my clothes to dry as soon as they are washed. I have a ceiling rack which is very efficient as hot air rises. In order to avoid too much ironing I do as you do Emmy and put dry clothes on a short finishing cycle in my drier. Of course when the weather picks up the washing goes in the garden. I find it quite a joyful experience to hang out and watch it all drying on the clothes line in the breeze.

I love my big drying rack! I load it up, put it in front of the patio doors to soak up the sun and it's also over a vent so the blowing heat helps dry it too. It also acts as a humidifier since it's over the hot air vent. My win was walking away from a bunch of sale items at the grocery store because we just didn't need it. I did get a few sideways looks from people at the grocery store when I said "no, no you don't need that, keep walking" out loud. haha

To use your potato haul you can bake them in their jackets (as we say in England) and then freeze them. I also make mash potato, line a baking tray with some sort of liner and place scoops of mash on the tray. Freeze the tray in a big plastic bag and then drop the portions into a bag when they are solid and keep them in the freezer. Take them out in advance of dinner and warm through in the oven or microwave. Or just heat them from frozen in a hot oven. Ideal if you already have the oven on. If you have scraps of cheese left over make cheesy mash!

Hi Emmy. I use the double clip hangers to hang my husband's jeans. I clip the hanger to the back band and let the front of the pants sort of fall open. Then I hangbthem on the clothing rack. Then I put the ceiling fan on medium and they dry much quicker. The fan also helps to keep moisture from building up on surfaces. I like you also use the accordion rack for underwear and socks. I've been doing this for almost 38 years. I also have used our heavy guage fence when we were first married in 1984. I've always enjoyed my clothesline as well. I really enjoy your channel. When I was younger, we put up a clothesline in the kitchen at night. The line was attached to hooks in each corner. The clothes were always dry by morning. Also, we used pants stretchers for wet jeans and the jeans didn’t require ironing once they dried. After watching frugal channels, I’ve learned we are frequently washing clothes too often. If they’re not dirty or smelly, don’t wash, just freshen with a product . Sometimes jeans can be worn up to 10 times before they need washed.

I do the same with clothes. My dryer's 17 years old now, and it would take about 2 cycles to dry the clothes, so I put them in for 15 minutes to unstiffen them, then hang on a tall rack and turn on the gas fireplace for a bit especially towards evening as it's getting colder outside. It's 33 here this morning in NMB. I know that's nothing compared to your temps, but it's certainly cold for us! There are 4 of us, so seems like I'm always washing clothes. Great meal. I never thought of the peas, but I do use peppers. I haven't seen a grocery store flying in a long time. We used to get them in the mail every Wednesday, but very rarely now.

I use my homemade ever updated price book. In my book I record not only the price but the size / weight. That way I know whether to buy or pass on the deal. As you probably noticed that even though the container size stays the same, the weight of the product might have changed. I don’t shop at Walmart either. I am doing the no spend on food pantry challenge for Jan and Feb. Since we get to write our own rules I have a rule that if there is a really good price on something I can buy it but I can’t use it during those months. It would be unfrugal of me to pass on the bargain. Your delicious dish I use kielbasa instead of Italian sausage.

Natalie, started a new price book, prices are rising so fast. Yes, quantities are going down but in same size package! Crooks! LOL. I hang our clothes on racks my husband suspended from the beams which are also near the air ducts and hang our clothes to dry. During the winter our clothes dry overnight or even sooner from the warmth flowing through the ducts. In the summer they go outside on the many clothesline’s I have. I do use our dryer on fluff for our dog’s blankets to get as much hair off them before washing or mid week if they are looking extra furry. Not sure how much electricity fluff uses.

We go through a ton of laundry each week. I have 3 kids, 15, 12, and 9 who all all athletes as well so everyday there's school uniforms, practice clothes, game uniforms several times a week, it's staggering some times. I'm sure we spend way too much on electricity with how often the dryer is running. I don't have any drying racks but I do have a huge wire shelf above my washer and dryer that I can hang hangers from and hang dry some of the items. I really enjoy the act of using a rack and clothesline, so this helps me over the colder days. Sometimes after baths, I will fill the bathtub with a rack full of things to dry! Thank you for going over the flyer like you did. We too don't shop Walmart and once in a blue moon will get a few things from Aldi- but Shop Rite is our main place- Stop & Shop has just gotten too pricey. Another lovely intro. We're cold here in Maryland, too. Well, cold for us, lol. The high today was 27 and it's going down to 21 tonight. It's been colder, but it's unusual for it to get too much colder here. It's nice during the day when it's sunny because I open every curtain and blind in the front of the house where the sun is shining in and it warms the house up nicely. It's surprising! But boy! Once the sun goes down the furnace starts running nonstop if I don't have the space heater on. I try to get a good balance between fuel oil and electricity. We have a small place so I can hear when the dryer goes off and I time chores to make sure I can get to the clothes right away when the dyer is finished so that I don't have to rerun it. In warm weather I hang laundry on the line outside. My wins have been a buy 1 get 2 free vitamin supplement that was just too good to pass up. Today I popped into the store to pick up a couple of sale things. For $16, I got a six pound chicken, four pounds of butter, and six bananas. I was pretty pleased with that!

That looked delicious! I make something very similar with polish sausage! My low spend January is going great! It’s been easy this year! Maybe because we’re getting use to hanging indoors more with Covid still lurking out there! Before you said it - I said I miss Emmy making bread! I totally get it about the time needed to make it. Have a great week!

Emmy we have been using air drying racks for years. This also helps put moisture in the air during dry winter months. Our nicer shirts and slacks get taken from the electric dryer while still slightly damp so they don't wrinkle. Good tip to save on the electric bill for sure!

You have not been extravagant- it is all stuff you will eat! Apart from the soap - where sometimes going for a cheaper brand just results in disappointment. Thanks for the inspiring video - you've reminded me of a potato and chicken thigh dish that goes into the oven...

I think your shopping haul was great but shocked at the price of the Ivory. I am in Canada and the same package here is only $2.97. When you need it though, you need it! Love the recipe and I hang my clothes outside in the freezing weather which draws out a lot of the moisture out and then hang them indoors overnight. They seem to dry faster that way. Thanks for another great video!

What a great price! Yes, soap is always so expensive...makes you wonder why lol!

I can’t use canned vegetable my son had to much aluminum in his blood work. I use frozen or fresh . I keep beating myself up for not making my bread. Take a few minutes to combine all the ingredients and set the bread machine just to mix and one rise. Then I form it into a bread pan ,!”let it rise and then bake. So much better. Love the one pan meal. Can you use green beans instead of peas. You both have such a great attitude and it helps. Thank you.
@FrugalMoneySaver3 жыл бұрын
I assume you could use green beans...just watch how long they cook for.

The sausage, potato, onion, and peas looks, and I am sure, tastes, wonderful. One of my goals this year is to expend my rotation of very tasty, nutritious, and economical dishes. Please keep them coming. I shopped for a few things and used some basic senior citizen coupons on things like mid, bread, veggies, and fruit. This was my first shopping in '22, so far so good. I love your chats and enjoy the comments----such a pleasant you tube family. There is such strength in sharing experiences and encouragement. I have knitted eight hats for the homeless this week. Such fun.

I hate peas too. For casseroles sometimes I take a few fresh green beans and chop them into dice. They add the bits of green but taste nice. Frozen beans work too but I thaw them a little first

I cheated with the no spend January Our Price Chopper had Del Monte canned veggies for 79cents if you buy 12, so my girlfriend bought me a case, (she has the PC card) so we traded for my homegrown eggs

We have food city, save a lot, and Walmart in our area. The only one that has lost leaders is Food City. And since I have not been shopping in the store because of the virus I end up shopping for pick up at Walmart. So I’ve actually spent more money at times because I bought things that were more expensive but I’ve also saved money a few times.
@FrugalMoneySaver3 жыл бұрын
Yes, a lot of people do pick up! You need to do what works for you!!

Hi , I have 2 drying racks in my conservatory, every time I do a wash it all goes out onto those as English weather is too unpredictable in the winter to put thing on the line outside . We do have a dehumidifier in the conservatory which isn’t expensive at all to run , it keeps the condensation down to a minimum . Then after a couple of days I give the washing 10 minutes in the tumble drier , saves me a ton of money x

Hi Emmy just to let you know I'm really enjoying binging on your videos as I'm obviously late to the party🤣. So here's how I've changed since watching your channel. I used up some older apples to make an apple crumble, made dauphinoise potatoes with 2 bags of baby potatoes left over from Christmas. Made banana, peanut butter and walnut muffins which I've froze. Done an inventory of my fridge and freezer and shopping them first (I always meal plan anyway). Cut up and froze lemons I wouldn't of got round to using. Made chicken stock from a carcass and started a veg bits freezer bag for future stocks. I'm also joining your no spend January so when our hoover hose broke we repaired instead of replaced and I cleaned and serviced my desk fan which is working so much better as I thought I needed a new one. I love your energy, enthusiasm and your contentment with Paul, Dixie and your life. More people should appreciate what they have instead of constantly obsessing about what they don't have. If I were to use your words I would tell you "you are a blessing to us all and we love you" Love from Scotland 🥰

Hey Emmy, Paul and Dixie, that sausage, potato and onion bake looked delicious 😋 Italian food is my favourite 😋 I think you did really well with your groceries, it makes sense to buy things when they're cheaper now and save the future you money - I wouldn't be too gard on yourself about the bread, yes we can say we should've /could've done better, but saving your energy for family and friend time now and then is more important, you're doing great 🙌 Me and my partner are on a very low budget for one reason and another and still haven't shopped properly since the week before Christmas, it's forcing us to really think outside of the box to create meals but is great as it's using up all that needs to be used up in our fridge, freezer and cupboards 👍

Your recipe looks delicious and I need more simple, quick recipes now since I am painting 3 bedrooms and updating/cleaning some things around the house before spring hit with gardening and such. I am usually so tired by dinner time that I can't even think of things to cook. We end up eating a lot of repeated meals and it gets tiring. I love that you shared your grocery haul and your feelings about buying bread. (Don't feel bad about it~~it was a good deal for something that saved you a ton of time.) I think it highlights a good point: that sometimes we all are very busy and finding a deal on a small bit of convenience makes sense. God bless!

Electricity is expensive in AZ. I've been partially drying and then dryer finishing for several years. No outside line here. To much dirt, dust and traffic pollution.
