OH boy..Dude! Use an old filament type 12volt headlamp in series with the red inverter feed FIRST..As inverter capacitors charge the lamp dims, then hook big red lead up. Your big--s inverter capacitor bank will last longer!

Hello, when connecting the battery to the inverter, first connect the positive and then the ground, this way the system will be protected. good work and good luck.

@@robertogilferreiramonteiro9173 how does it make any difference in this kind of setup? Both are just direct connections to the battery unlike in a vehicle where the 'ground' is the body. The circuit won't be complete till the last connection regardless

Great video my friend ! Hey I started 11 years ago 100% off grid :) 4 batteries & 1 solar panel I hooked everything 12v & still run it the same way 👍 :) I have added batteries & more panels & set up the same thing in my shop 5 years ago works great :)) I started with very little money & slowly built what I need, Just added a couple power stations for back up life just gets a little better ! Take care buddy

Personally, I prefer 12 volt systems. I'm a fan of keeping things simple. Thanks. Great video.

And as for Chinese 3KW, 12volt sinewave inverters..mine DOES have very comprehensive panel display, but susPECT...may be the inductive load "sensitive" high frequency, small transformer/transformerless setup, so I'm LUCKy to start larger saw, chainsaw, mower...inductive loads, & EVERy big load welding 2/0,etc connection MUST be clean & snugged down GOOD, or the inverter brkr/low-voltage pops, so I gotta walk 70 or more ft to re-set. Aagh! And hooking a filament lamp up at same time can help soak up some of the inductive load "surge kickback Even small AC fridges can have nasty kickbacks..especially if the contactors getting worn contacts.

Nice solar setup, mine is similar to yours. I'm running four 450 watt panels, five 100ah power Queen LiFePo4's, LiTime 60a charge controller in a 12 v system here in Jamaica.

I just got some BougeRV panels in a few weeks ago and I have an expansion battery for the solar generator in coming in later today. Solar is the best way to go.

I got a older pure sine wave inverter, 1500W and it sucks up 4 amps just to have it on and plus the load it's running. That's like leaving your headlights on your car. Will drain the battery quickly. Any clue on what these new inverters use?
@FrugalOffGrid

High-frequency inverters like this draw a negligible amount of power. Low frequency inverters, which are often more power, draw much more but are built into large systems to compenate.

Cool videos, I’m definitely a bit older than you and have the same feeling about not being appreciated in the workplace. I’m also a ginger lol. Have been seriously thinking about living off grid. We have a seasonal camping spot and as soon as I leave the city it’s like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders and mind. I feel like this would be a positive change in my life even if I have to travel to my current job to add to my pension so I can retire but still be off grid

Use a resistor when running battery bank to inverter. Take a 6 om. on the hot side until the inverter lights up, remove resistor, then quickly attack the hot side. No sparks, and you won't blow up the inverter.

Great videos, i need to get your free brochure, im buying land with owner finance, while paying for my one acre, ive built a tiny camper from a pop up trailer, im using solar (4) panels 100 watts thunderbolt, i have a peak 1200 watt inverter (3- 15amp fuses) hooked to 2- 12v solar batteries 35amp, connected them to 4 outlets first outlet is GFCI, will this be good enough for one person and just get me through the nights, i have separate solar battery for water pump 12v, 4amp & 100 watt (4 panels) thun😢with 3 solar lights. And 400 watt predator generator fir power tools, no welding equipment lol just circular saw. Im moving to Arizona when my lands paid for to build.

Thank you for making this video. I did not see a fuse between the Charge-Controler and the Battery, most CC's have it built in, but I always add the same size amp fuse as the CC. 100 Amp CC = 100Amp Fuse. To prevent that spark on the inverter connection: Use a normal 12V old-style car lamp and connect it between the wire and the pole, when the light goes off, you can connect with no spark, the 12V light slows down the Amp rush to the capacitors in the inverter. New Users keep in mind the 100A 12 V Battery can only push out 100Amps so you can not hook up anything bigger than a 1200Wat Inverter to that one battery. 200A Battery = 2000W Inverter / 400A Battery = 4000W Inverter. You can go smaller but not more than what the battery can provide in Amps. Hope it helps :)

But why build 12 volt? Use 1980s technology? 48 volt is the only thing that's not a waste of money. You spent more money on wire than I spent on my whole 48 volt system

This couldn't be further from the truth. I used almost 100% scrap, but it wouldn't cost $50 for wire.

kind of surprised you're not using busbars - sure, they're not required but can make expanding easier. good, simple system though!
@FrugalOffGrid
@FrugalOffGrid 6 күн бұрын
There's a Busbar on the wall next to the system. I didn't hook it up or show it because I have no use for it currently, and it would be an extra step making this less of an EASY / CHEAP build. Thanks for the input.
