Lol, I can see why my custard apple tree is doing so badly. I did not prune back the long branches, thinking that the fruit are borne on older branches! Thank God I came upon this most helpful video. THANK YOU and God bless you.

I've been hand- pollinating my cherimoya here in Cali for the past week. It helps to have different varieties because my flowers open simultaneously. I have cherimoya knight and Chaffey variety. One has male flowers when the bother have female flowers open vice versa but currently only the Knight variety have mature flowers so I've been using it's pollen to pollinate it. And they most annonas have the same type of flower except for the soursop that have a different looking flower. I do notice some flowers that I didn't hand pollinate set fruit which I think it's the ants that do that .

Good topic but i need MORE. Seeing pollination (male - female) will be great. But how about doing one covering from seed and cutting to pots to in ground to pollination? I have one about a year old and have no clue what to do for it or when it should go in ground.
@ThatStevenLouis
@ThatStevenLouis 2 жыл бұрын
Dude it's a one year old....do what you'd do with any one year old tree lol. Sugar apples are "tropical" so unless you live in a tropical region or have built/planning to build a greenhouse large enough to cover in ground trees, putting it in ground should be nowhere near your concerns, especially with a one year old tropical tree. If not, you just up-pot them as needed. It's only a year old, don't make it harder than it already is lol👌🏾

I would like to share an idea I had this season. I had a super amount of bloom but NOTHING was taking. I had no bees or insects that I could see, do I tried to attract them but brushing honey on branches next to flowers. This is my best season ever. 25-30 on tree. I didn't hand pollinate. Try it on a few branches and let me know your results. Thanks

@@FruitfulTrees I knew you had to be lower than zone 10b. The people who lived in Lehigh acres Florida ( fort myers area) were in zone 10 b, and even so they lost their entire crop. I love planting sugar apples, but they can be picky buggers. I’ve been getting a little weary of hand pollinating them, do you have any way to encourage those beetles to come in a regular basis?

@@nobull772 Leaving the area around the tree messy/mulched and feed the inulid beetles rotting fruit. If you have native pawpaw/asimina you may get other types of pollinators depending on your area.

@4:30 You need bees. We needs bees. Why would any grower or gardener discuss pollination without mentioning the natural pollinators and the chemicals that kill them. Rule number 1: We need to be one with nature.
@catlindarnell2367
@catlindarnell2367 2 жыл бұрын
Its much more than just bees here in Florida we get a wide variety of pollinators. Ive personally never seen a bee go near my sugarapple flowers. And you can lose your pollinators just from trying to control nature without the use of chemicals.

Do you know that you have a horribly rude habit of cutting people off when they are talking? I love your videos, but this happens in all of them and I can't stand that behavior. I'm from NYC and find that very disrespectful. Just my 2 cents...

You have options….either continue watching, don’t watch anymore, or make your own videos. He is the interviewer, producer, videographer, editor, etc…. He’s trying to get a certain amount of information out of people within a specified amount of time and sometimes he may need to lead people in the direction he sees fit. The one thing I see all across KZbin is people that make it their priority to belittle other people’s work but they will never make their own videos. Reminds me of welfare recipients who do nothing to contribute to society but will complain if there are potholes on the road.

@@MrThumper1440 Triggered much? I'm sorry that it took you a whole 3 weeks to read my paragraph. I guess some people are slower than others..... Anyway, you can choose not to read my comment. Being rude and cutting people off in a video is just as rude as doing it when not filming. Makes no difference to me. I know I can choose to stop watching. I can do whatever I feel like. If I like the content but don't like disrespect, I am free to say so. This is America. If you do not like that, go move to another country where opinions and freedom of speech are not tolerated, commie..... 😒

You can watch his videos or you can find another channel. There's nothing rude about about someone reiterating the question when the person being asked isn't answering the questions directly. It's called redirection.
@alexmurphy4040
@alexmurphy4040 7 ай бұрын
@Free_Falastin2024 same applies to you. If you don't like the comments or others opinions, you can either not read them, or mind your own business. Cutting someone off is exactly that, rude. I'm guessing that you have that in common and are defending someone with that bad trait. You simply do not talk over someone, end of story.
