Careful with black shade cloth, if any part of the plant touches the shade cloth it WILL burn the plant because black shade cloth material absorbs the sunlight and gets very very hot. I fried one of my grape plants on accident with black shade cloth

When I was In California I planted my fruit trees quite dense so they provide side shade for each other bc I am lazy, I don't want water too much. In Florida I even keep my potted plants in 1-2 hours of direct sun, so far so good. If you are going to plant anything in the future try that, it might be better than putting shade cloth

dense planting is more work than it's worth. I got a video on it.

@@qctropicals yeee i remember I watched that video:) Most fruit trees anyways need pruning on regular basis to keep them smaller and I don't grow non fruiting trees.

Would love to see a video that covers trees that fruit readily and those that are not for beginners and need babying to fruit in the desert. You covered some good ones, but lots of people also try to grow banana, date palms, white sapote, starfruit, avocado, etc.

Do you think covering just the mango fruit themselves, say with bags or foil, instead of putting up shade cloth for the whole tree would help?

I have two figs I think they’re possibly black mission or brown turkey I don’t know which and I had them in the ground. Probably going on five years now last year was the first year that I really got a number of good fruits. Well they weren’t good but a number of nice big what I thought was going to be and it was our longest summer here I live in Glendale And the leaves started getting crumbly even just before the biggest longest part of the heat and they were looked beautiful the Facebook beautiful but they were so dry and they burned my mouth. Is this shading issue or is this some kind of a disease process this this summer I trimmed half of the tree And being an older person I gave out but I’m not seeing much difference in fruit production and I’m wondering if maybe my family member who was in charge of those trees did not water them off and enough how often should I water in this heat? I’d also have a mulberry tree in between them, I have two of these fig trees how often I do have a lot of Woodchips around these figs, so I’m wondering how often I need to water when the heat is so high

Hey dude, how are your mangos looking right about now? In the valley of California our temperatures are getting towards your level ; can I ask when it's important to shade cloth your Guavas? I recall you saying the sun burns the fruit, I've used thin cardboard packing paper to stop it but feel like I'm going overboard
@qctropicals
@qctropicals 2 ай бұрын
if the sun hits the fruit directly it will sun burn it. But guavas grow so fast, mine is just big enough to shade its fruit now. Mangos doing great. Lost most of them like every year to hot wind. I have a few ripening.

@@qctropicals Hey, I was curious how often do your Guava plants thin out already pollinated buds? We been having some extreme temperatures and im unsure if this is from that or natural in a first time flowering Tropical Pink

Wouldn't it be prudent to sell fruit trees that are native to your area. I find many fruit trees say will grow in zones.......BUT that isn't always the case. If it states a tree will grow in zones.....shouldn't it be successfully grown in the zones listed most of the time? Seems like it should be pretty simple.
