Just a quick tip, if you want to adjust the frequency band and still have the whole frequency range, you need to set the first 2 knobs to the same value and the other 2 knobs to the same value.

no, no, no. your compression starts happening when you hit the blue wave, not white wave. you got your sustain on.. the blue shows what will the compressor threshold detect and start to do it's job. the compression that you did also distorting, and you can see it too by those fuzzy white line from the white line analyzer. and also the multiband compression, the Impulse response is not the cause of your wave shape different. it's your gain reduction that different in each band. if you adjust/gainmatch the before and after, it will be the same. IIR and FIR tracked signal differently that makes the difference in the gain reduction. and the way you explaining the attack and the release is so confusing for ppl who try to understand how to use it. and also also, on the izotope. if you - the tha ratio, it;s upward compression not expansion. dude, tbh, there are still a lot of things that you take it the wrong way. how could you be so confident making video explaining things that you still not understand it. it's so dangerous, ppl who want to learn might took it the wrong way. you use a difficult mixing term, to avoid explaining things that not so hard to be told, maybe just to cover that you don't even know what that is, or just to make you sounds like a pro mixer. i've been watching your tutorial videos for a while, and you keep doing that sometimes. please, if you really want to teach, teach em good. all the things that you said, doesn't need 35min long. u always look like that u got really lack of preparation, lazy to edit or review the tutorial that u make (cuz many things that should not be said/shown or need some more context to be told or even unnecessary explanation, repetitive and loop talking are still there). your channel is getting bigger, you should improve what you present to viewers, cuz some of the viewers are not only a beginner.. i hope u dont take my comment the wrong way, i just want to support u by giving a constructive feedback so you can get better, not hating or whatsoever. gbu sir. if you don't like what i say in this comment, u can delete it tho. i just wanna tell u, cuz u need to know. don't stop learning and only teach ppl what you really really know.

Nothing I said here was wrong (as far as I saw after a second look through) and I point out several of the things your talking about (such as the compression with fast attack and release being a distortion and then I use it demonstrate sustain around 6:50, and one of the first things I say is the blue line is the threshold, i never said anything about a white wave triggering the compressor) I appreciate your concern and honesty and just want to give you a proper response. I show that compression starts happening after you pass the threshold according to the ratio, knee, and timing settings, in 3 separate plugs. The blue is line is the threshold, the white line is the graph of what the compressor is doing. The purple shows this gain reduction. Also, in izotope I did say it was expansion if you reverse the ratio but upwards compression is the same thing (based on your comment it sounds like you have never the term expansion). I am confident because I do understand it. I have made a couple compressors myself and gone into filter design! haha (IIR and FIR do not "track" the signal, these are the type of filter used for the crossovers, and what I was explaining was due to the way each one works they will cause phase shifts and am amplitude reductions differently). As far as length and teaching, there is so much out there that edits away bit and pieces in a way that results in stuff that is overly simplistic or so fast that no actual comprehension takes place, granted I am often told I go to fast so I am trying to pace myself. I felt like I had a good balance in this video. I started with compression, moved to concepts of multiband compression, then went through the idea of each control and how one might consider its use and then moved to the broader ideal of compression. As for the terms I use, I think I may have used to many math references, but that is just how I talk and see things. I am "that guy" where we could be walking to class and I want to explain how we could use calculus to find when we will pass the next person #relatedRates or if a store stayed open infinitely long we could create a function that would allow us to tell them when the next customer would come! That still blows my mind. To bad stores close. XD I spend 6 hours 4 days a week teaching all kinds of subjects at Citrus College and get everything from sequences diverging, to helping someone with their analysis paper on Chopin or even just helping someone make a major scale. I put in terms that apply. You got me on the level matching, I definitely could have mentioned that. If you still think something I said was wrong feel free to point it out. Hopefully this clarifies things, thanks for speaking your mind. I'd rather people be honest. =)
