We do the same we make sure we eat Halal food stay away from gelatin (we prefer vegan gelatin), agino moto while making Chinese and pick any kind of impurity/bug which human eyes can find in grains (rice 🌾 wheat etc). Although sometimes we get labelled as living a difficult life and are not flexible enough. It's lovely to see people follow their tradition around the world.

When growing up without a dad and any relatives, one day i walked thru a jewish neighbourhood golders green in London on shabat. I looked into the windows i was passing with longing. The obvious warmth and closeness of family was so appealing. Now 65 years later i have a great big family of my own and we have great joy gathering around the family table..where everyone is welcome to speak and share food together. Now my children and their children host us…i enjoyed your tour and explanations…thanks be to God…

I was blessed to work for a very nice Orthodox Jewish man in one of my past jobs. He would always buy lunch for everyone on friday and about noon we would stop work and eat and talk, he always left with lots of time on Friday to be home before Sabbath begins. He was a very kind and good person, and I admire him. I think the Yiddish word for a good man, a Mensch, applied to him. Anyways, I appreciated him very much and I appreciate you!

"I love Jewish homes!" When I was high school, I babysat for 2 lovely little boys in an orthodox Jewish family. I remember some of these details from that time. Unfortunately, at the time, I was unaware of the meat/milk dish use and inadvertently used the wrong dish when my mom brought an ice cream sundae over for me. The original container was split and was leaking so I took a bowl out of the cabinet in which to set the container. When I finished I washed the bowl and set it in the drainer to dry. The next time I babysat, the mother had set out dishes and utensils I could use and asked that I use them. Very low key but when I found out the reason, I felt terrible. I really enjoyed my time with those boys and was glad she kept calling for me!

Yes!! I see so many Catholic women responding here.. I so too live the tradition.. I love the Friday evening Shabbat.. I believe that connection with family is so wonderful… growing up in an Italian Catholic household.. we would go to Sunday mass and have a lively lunch… but as times changed and my grandparents and parents passed.. we unfortunately lost this tradition.. these videos make me feel so nostalgic and appreciative of the tradition in the Jewish community.. and the live for family.. I just live these videos so much.. thank you!!

How I’d love for you to do a series on the different topics with the items you showed us so those of us who are trying to grow in our understanding of Judaism and it’s traditions can absorb all the different aspects of Jewish life. I would especially love to learn the Shema . I can only speak a few words and a few prayers in Hebrew but it’s not even close to what I want to know. Your program comes on and it becomes a well that I can drink from especially when it’s content is like that of today’s program.anyway, thanks again Sara and tell your sweet baby girl thank you for sharing her beautiful voice with us in the singing of the Shema

This is the first of your videos I have watched. Your home is beautiful, and my favorite part is that in showing things, your explanations don’t just tell traditions, but include expressing your heart for God. And that you pass the traditions AND heart to your children, and then THEY also develop a love for Him. I am a Christian but absolutely believe that many of the foundations of Christianity come from Jewish roots. I believe that if each person in a family, or even a church or synagogue is close to God and scripture, they will then be close to each other, too. So I love learning from you and also from Chana on Jar of Fireflies. Thank you for making these videos. I’m going to subscribe.

I'm the only one that comes from a different degree and all I could think about was that I was not enough to be there and that I was so lost and lonely. Then, when I played the rest of the video, the first thing I hear is "You are loved and you are enough just the way you are". Just after saying that to my friend...
