My story of leaving a professional job & becoming a teacher is interesting & unusual, but I’ll not bore you with it. Nonetheless, I will say that I did not suddenly become a better teacher after completing the training & certification requirements. Like any other teacher, I brought my background, my bachelor’s degree, and my content knowledge to the job, after which experience completed my training. With all the hoops I jumped through to become a certified teacher, one might think I was set for a long-term career, but they would be wrong. When our state lege gutted the education budget in 2012, about 25% of all teachers were laid off, on a district by district basis. If I had been in a rural school district or outside of a large urban area, I might have been able to keep my job, but, in my department, only the ladies & a young fellow who was a former student of our supervisor survived the cuts - and it is guaranteed that competence, training, and experience had no part in the decision process.

Yes they don’t want experienced professionals, that actually have real,life practical work experience, becoming teachers .
