And In regards to you’re hole 9 break, I’d say they need to constantly change courses (like changing the routes or shapes) yearly so they’re constantly seeing something new. They should also lower some pars to make scoring more difficult. I’d say instead of making holes just longer or more woodsy , do both.

The thing I like about disc golf is that there are only a few simple rules. Since discs change with significant use, how about date stamping all discs, putting a maximum time limit on their use, and creating a huge secondary market for discs previously used by tour professionals. Or, making disc recycling the preferred and common practice. Plastic tends to live forever, and I do have some concern about manufacturing a million new discs each year that will likely last forever.
@tossingplastic
@tossingplastic Жыл бұрын
this is a very fascinating take! Forcing disc manufactures to use recycled plastic would be very very interesting! huh you had me look at this from a different perspective! Thank you!

@@tossingplastic I had several rules I had thought up, but I didn't want there to have to be officials watching everything because I like the way the sport is one where the players police themselves. I'm a freedom and liberty guy, and I think k the founders of the sport were too. Since it is a sport that is played in nature, I'm thinking pads and baskets should be the only marks on the landscape, and we shouldn't be leaving a massive heap of refuse for future generations to have to deal with. I wonder if biologically-based plastics like corn combined with recycling of existing petroleum-based plastics would set the sport aside as being culturally desirable.

If we are talking about making courses more difficult, I believe Simon Lizotte‘s philosophy of tournaments having players being penalized via more OB and hazards in place so that bad shots hurt scorecards, and players are never rewarded from poor shots or choices. This IMNSFHO, and YMMV, and whatnot. Love your channel.

I'm against having tons of really long holes. I would have no more than 3 long holes. One dead straight, one dogleg left, and one dogleg right. The other 15 holes be very tight technical lines in the woods. Throwing a 200 foot hyzer shot through a bunch of trees is way cooler than seeing a wide open 400 foot shot. Long distance also increases chance of injury in the arm. Especially with 25+ full power shots. Smaller baskets are not a good idea. Instead make the area around the basket have obstacles like bushes and trees
@tossingplastic
@tossingplastic Жыл бұрын
Interesting! The arm damage i think is coming into play quickly similar to tommy john in the MLB! I don't think players would get behind more obstacles around baskets but would be entertaining to watch! I would love to see man sized bunkers like golf buy huge and force crazy putts!

This looks like a course I just tried to play today (I just started in May, missing a month for gallbladder removal, so it well poorly lol). I lean more towards woodsy for harder pro courses, though I know it's not always possible. I'm helping with a new course in the area that's meant to be advanced/pro level and it's got a good combo of distance and looots of trees in the way. The design is already there, I'm just a grunt work volunteer who can remove vegetation. The gnats (tons of different families with that name, but a few are interested in people) are likely after your sweat. Some will be going for blood (the no-see-ums), but they have tiny mouthparts and have a hard time biting us. But likely two different species.
@tossingplastic

Sheesh just get into the game and the gallbladder leaves the chat haha that's tough! I have heard of no-see-ums and the annoying/bad stories that come with them! Sweat makes sense! Where is the course you are working on located?
@tylerhedlund7123
@tylerhedlund7123 Жыл бұрын
@@tossingplastic no-see-ums are a huge pain! Even if not biting they tend to get into everything and area always in the way. The course is in Danville, IL. There's a nice little 9 hole at Kickapoo State Park, but a brand new 18 holer is going to be added in the next handful of years. As the course designer put it, it will be "punishing, but fair".

Pro courses need to stop being played at boring courses like Ledgestone Temp course or Winthrop U. Where you have to manufacture fairways and OB via painted lines. Simply put, play harder, more technical courses and elevate baskets. Love watching you play these Michigan courses. You should make it up to Whiskey Hills (southeast of Ludington). I like the idea of limiting discs- pretty sure ball-golf limits clubs. But I bet the disc manufacturers would be against it as it would probably lead to lower disc sales maybe. (Or maybe higher because everybody needs perfect discs for each slot??? I dunno...)
