I served in the army, 1978-1990. We had what the Royal Navy called Sod’s Operas. Whatever remote corner of the world we found ourselves in, to maintain morale troops were asked to cobble together acts for the Sod’s Opera. Some of the funniest comedy I have ever seen came from that tradition. I’m just talking about the deepest laughter from the most original sources. A lost tradition of raw genius. Christmas, South Georgia, 1982: Recce Platoon Royal Hampshire Regiment, HMS Hecate’d crew inc. the RM Naval Landing Party. I love the Footlights but I also remember the emergence of the Goons from the armed forces.

Pretty sure I've read somewhere either in Stephen's auto biographies or an annecdote surrounding them that they constantly mix up how they first met as a sort of gag between the two of them. I've just remembered this while listening in the beginning. I wish I could remember where i'd read/heard it. Eitherway it's hilarious to see how it changes each time Stephen talks or writes about it xD

Yeah I can't help but shake the feeling this production just got bungled by incompetence.
