Now that you have the bales you should see if you get more per 1000L v selling it as loose grass. I've sold quite a few silage bales and they seem to be 833 a pop on hard @3400L no matter what the silage @ biogas plant is.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Jan P yeah, I'm starting to stock pile various bales. Once I finish, the different harvest methods, I'll cover selling. What are you using that's making 3400L bales?
@Jannemanneman7 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Farmer Is that not standard for round bales? Must be the Bale Density mod that's doing that. But it makes 6k square bales so that's nice. It's on fs-uk.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Jan P yeah, sounds like it's the bale density mod. From what I've seen, all the stock balers make 4k bales.

I had some grass that turned into hay on it's own. I had it piled up by the pick up wagon over by the sheep. Not sure how long it took to do so.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Collin DesRoches interesting, I had grass cut and sitting on this map for about 10 game days and it didn't change. Really if the field regrows in two game days, then having to wait such a long time would be strange.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+The Mysterious Stranger yeah, it would be a neat feature, but the other problem, is currently there is no point to make hay (rather than grass) bales. As the forage mixer, and the sheep just take normal grass windrow.
@Jannemanneman7 жыл бұрын
We tedded only if we wanted to make dry hay, if it was going in the bunk for silage we'd usually only windrow it. Making dry hay without tedding really depends on the climate, you need sunny weather and wind and not a lot of dew or humidity. As per your grass turning into hay my guess is you had hay in the pickup wagon and when you picked up the grass it turned it into hay? If you have a half full baler with straw for example it'll change to crop inside the baler into whatever you start picking up whether that's hay or grass.
@likestocomeovertohelp7 жыл бұрын
i never did any tedding, didn't see a need so never bought one. It had to change on it's own. But it only happen once, have grass sitting over by cows to and that didn't change so maybe just a glitch.
@Jannemanneman7 жыл бұрын
Collin DesRoches Strange. I'll make a pile somewhere and see if it changes.

It is my experience that whilst baling and using a forage wagon to pick up windrow has no significant effect on the yield, windrow from the forage wagon attracts an ever reducing price per wagonload but the bale price is stable. I have not, though checked whether the extra work is an efficient use of time and equipment.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Robert Langford if you are selling the grass at your barn the price is stable and won't change based on the number of loads or bales sold.

When the field turn orange in the map it is time for harvest. Is there any differense in the yield if you harvest when it is light orange or when it is dark orange?
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Alf Morten Byberg yes, you get 33% more if you wait for the 2nd harvest stage. Check out the video I did about that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eILXe5R_l9xopaM
@Jannemanneman7 жыл бұрын
Alf Morten Byberg ^ what he said. And for other crops the different stages of orange don't make a difference to my knowledge.
@KentuckyFarmer7 жыл бұрын
+Jan P to make it even more confusing, some crops you can forage harvest when they are still green, for example corn can be harvested with a forage harvester the the last dark green growth stage. This is more realistic as if you were to chaff corn, you wouldn't wait for it to completely dry like you would to combine it.
@Jannemanneman7 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Farmer Whoah I didn't know that, that's awesome. I always thought it was a little strange to be doing corn silage with cob corn lol.
@alfmortenbyberg89287 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Farmer, I have seen that video when you released it but that was for gras. Great video by the way. But will the same apply for corn or weat or any other crop?
