I hope this will be a help to your followers. The following figures are for my setup. After this I think I will invest in a more up to date Graphics Card, though it was the best I could buy at the time, it is around 5-6 years old. Location-: London City Airport. Main Settings-: Medium Frames Per Second at Start-: 25 Frame-rate while taxiing-: 23 Frame-rate on Take-off-: 23-24 First Change Render Scaling 100% down to 80% Frame Rates while flying over London-: 25 Drone Frame-rates over London-: 25-26 Second Change Glass Cockpit Refresh Rate down from Medium to Low Frame Rates while still flying over London-: 24-25 Drone Frame-rates over London-: 25-26 Third Change Screen Resolution from 3840 X 2160 to 1920 X 1080 Cockpit Frames Per Second-: 25-26 Drone Frames Per Second-: 26-29 Forth Change Trees, Grass and Bushes from High and Medium to Low and Low Cockpit Frames Per Second-: 25-26 Drone Frames Per Second-: 26-29 There were some frame-rate changes, but on average only one or two. Average Frame-rate was 26 The place where there was a big change was with my processes, especially with my GPU I returned my settings to their original (Screen Resolution 3840 X 2160) settings and checked the readings again, and then back to 1920 X 1080. They were as follows Screen Resolution 3840 X 2160 Screen Resolution 1920 X 1080 CPU 20% CPU 17% GPU 99-100% GPU 48% VRAM 82% VRAM 62% RAM 44% RAM 42% FPS 28 FPS 28 I couldn't detect any change in resolution and very little change in FPS but the rendering was smoother when Screen Resolution was set to 1920 X 1080 and as can be seen it reduced the GPU percentage by 50%.

Huddison!!WOW! I have an HP Omen 2020 laptop with an I5-10300h with an RTX 2060 and I was solidly in the low 30's on medium preset. Changed the render scale res down to 80 from 100 and now I am runnung solid at 38-42 constantly!! Thank you!!!

A few months ago, I found the render scaling to give me the greatest impact on frame rates. I set it from 100 to 70, with no noticeable loss in graphics quality, but it brought my average frame rates from 15 to 30, which is a huge difference. I am running Two Nvidia GE force GTX 1080, for reference. (i’m using an SLI bridge, but that doesn’t matter, because this game does not take advantage of that set up) 64GB DDR4. Two Core i7’s. I am running 4K ultra settings as well.

Great to hear. I now keep my Render settings at 80 and I also don't notice any real loss in graphical fidelity.

Note 1. If you lower your render Scale the details on the ground won't be that sharp, bare in mind if you do touristic explorations. Note 2. I see you have Shadows settings like Shadow maps. If you half the value from 1024 to 512 and from 256 to 128 maybe you will see increase in very dense areas. Shadows was the first thing I tried to lower when I played games. Note 3. Overclock does help on GPU heavy games, is very dangerous and not always stable. If you use programs like MSI or EVGA never save overclock to apply on start up of the Windows It may cause bootloops and crashes. Voltage increase is what makes the higher clocks stable, but also what cause lower life span of the card. When possible don't increase the voltage, just like in your case, 200 Mhz + is not that huge.

This setting made a ton of difference on my system. May not work as good on yours, but on my HP Omen 2020 with an I5-1300h and an RTX2060, I just flew through NYC from KLGA in a c172 at 50-55 fps on medium preset with the render scale set at 80!

Good evening Huddison many thanks for these 2 videos and all your other videos ,certainly helped with my setup. It really makes flight simming much more enjoyable for many of us. I noticed when you clicked on DEVELOPER MODE a smallmessage appeared on the top right hand corner SDK UPDATE AVAILABLE it allso appeared on my one ,what does that do, it seemed to show the existing setting was0.11.0 new one 0.12.0 just curious

Good evening David & thank you. I think the update is mainly for Developers.

If, in a built up area you are getting smooth performance, why reduce settings? To me, frames don’t need to be as high as you can get but the experience is smooth and the scenery acceptable.
@Huddison3 жыл бұрын
I reduced to show the FPS increase, as an example for those who are struggling with frames etc.
@fingerhorn43 жыл бұрын
Terrain and object detail has a far higher impact on frame rates than the tweaks you did. You are essentially running at quite a low monitor resolution yet you are getting a pretty poor 35 fps. I don't know what system you have but most moderate systems should do a lot better than this. Best way to tune is to start with everything low and gradually increase each setting individually then see what difference it makes. AI aircraft, scenery data, multiplayer, reflections and cloud rendering are also a big influence.

What I would like to see is more dynamic FS settings because having to set one set of graphics for all areas is nonsense. Set graphics for good performance in heavy built up areas and you've probably had to wind things back, now fly to a less dense scenery area and you're on lower settings than you could be. Similarly, set them to be good for light scenery areas and fly into dense and now you have the wrong settings again. I would love to be able to set maximum and minimum for key settings such as render scale and then a desired minimum frame rate and what to sacrifice in what order. It would be nicer if Asobo did this automatically but it doesn't so give us the options please!

Problem: My throttle quadrant is correctly connected to the flight yoke system through the correct inlet on the back of the yoke system, and sufficient power is applied, however, the quadrant is completely dead, and the small green light is not engaged. How come?? Have tried every possible solution in vain. Any sugestion - can you help? Without a funktional quadrant the whole system is worthless PS.: I am running MFS 2020. Rgds.
