11.3.4 is the first update where I haven't had any regression. It still makes some mistakes and I've reported it half a dozen times this week. But it has resolved 7 issues I used to experience on my regular routes. Lane changing on the highway is amazing . . . they seem to have mastered it. I've had it do about 30 highway lane changes in a variety of conditions and all have been perfect . . . better than I can do myself! This is the first update that really makes me feel like they are going to actually succeed with FSD!

I am Jealous. I live in a major metropolitan area with lots of traffic and lots of distracted drivers. I literally can't go more than a block or 2 without having to potentially disengage. I use the software less and less mostly because it's slower than I am and stressful to supervise. 11.3.4 looks pretty good, but I certainly don't live in such a civilized area as you. Thanks for the tour. The update is impressive.

Thx for sharing. Haven’t seen your videos in a while. I used FSD today on a small highways and it was making wrong turns and even got confused at times. I did like the creep up at stop signs. Driving on major highways is really good so far. Glad your doing well. 👍🏽

Thanks for sharing Gust! Yes - there are certain things that it still does struggle with, but there are certain things that it does so well that it shows that FSD is possible given time and enough data. I’m optimistic for the next update.

Definitely impressive - and the thing is, as helpful as a video can be in appreciating the progress, nothing beats being in the car and feeling the confidence, smoothness and surefootedness that represents 98% of the drive. Good to see another video from you. I've been stuck on FSD beta 11.3.3. I do wish it wouldn't use the blinkers so frequently, especially when the road only goes one way. Maybe if they made it so the blinkers only came on when the car senses other vehicles on the road.

Good question. I'll do some more driving and just check on the blinker behaviour and see if I can make more sense of it. I've experienced some of that myself

Thanks Paul. I understand your frustration. The further away you are from the USA, the longer things seem to take in this tech centric world. Even in Canada, we are always behind releases that the USA gets first, but it is definitely worth the wait - and I am very excited about the future of full self driving.

Yoke steering is good if you have adaptive steering based on speed in my humble opinion. ( the faster the speed = the slower the yoke input needed and vice versa ) I think Tesla needs to learn this yet.

Could you Try - Vancouver-Blaine Hwy West bound on to Annacis Hwy... have not worked in all versions so far.
@davidbolignesi2431 Жыл бұрын
Good morning. I have found two consistent concerns. If I am on a highway, driving 65/70mph, when approaching my exit ramp, FSD is still moving waaaay too fast. Many of the off ramps in my part of NJ are a fairly dramatic curve where the ramp speed limit is 25/30mph. I always need to disengage FSD because FSD barely reduces speed and I would like not to fly off the road. The other concern has happened twice since the new new update - not slowing for toll plazas on the highway. I got within 200 to 300 feet of the plaza and I was still going 70mph. Otherwise.... Heh.... It works great!
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, (or fortunately), we don’t have any toll plazas here for me to test but I accept that it’s behaviour there and on exits definitely still needs improvement. Very excited to wait for version 12 which should address a lot of the issues people are raising in this comment section.

4:49 don't you guys use indicators for lane changing in Canada?
@model3man Жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right that the car did NOT indicate as it merged from the onramp into the right hand lane. It was on FSD and I was not intervening at the time, so the only thing I can speculate is that because there was no one at all coming up from behind in that right hand lane, it did not see a need to indicate. As a human, I would have probably done so regardless of there being no cars behind. More out of habit than out of safety, though.
@RubenKelevra Жыл бұрын
8:22 driving around this nearly blind corner with 36 kph feels excessive. I mean there could be anything on the side of the road, like a child and you wouldn't even have a chance to react, let alone do brake.
@model3man Жыл бұрын
No. In this case it was slowing rapidly, and it feels very different in the car compared to how it looks / feels in the video. Remember that the car has much wider vision than my camera view of the road ahead, and it could have seen a child or other living thing if that had been there. So, sometimes the video version is misleading to a viewer where being in the car looks and feels quite different. I always try to say when I feel the car is going too slow or too fast for the way a human would drive. Had it felt way too fast there, I would have interjected and said so in the narration I was giving.
@RubenKelevra Жыл бұрын
9:42 I thought the yellow signs are recommended speeds? 40 kph is on a white sign and thus the legal speed limit.
@model3man Жыл бұрын
You're quite right. Those yellow triangular signs with black speed numbers ARE advisory so probably the LEGAL limit was 40 and the car was correct on the legal speed on that stretch. I just learned something. I had thought that those signs were mandatory but you're right - they're advisory

How is the defensive driving skills with the FSD, would it know if another car is doing something wrong and compensate?
@model3man Жыл бұрын
A good question. I am happy to share tbat I had two experiences and both were very positive on the "defensive driving" issue. An oncoming car veered severely into my lane and faster than I could ever have responded, Red Dragon veered quickly to the right using the available space between my car and the sidewalk. I was impressed beyond words. The other incident involved a car coming towards me at 90 degrees through an intersection. Guy was clearly not watching at all. Red Dragon braked so hard and so quickly that the incident was over before I could even react. i would definitely have been side-struck as he did not stop - and sailed right through the intersection. So... two opportunities for the car to "show its' chops" and it passed with flying colors!

The switch to ask for permission to change lanes is ignored on freeway driving. We like to decide if we want to change lanes or not.
@model3man Жыл бұрын
There is a setting to limit lane changes and pretty much keep the car in the lane you have chosen to use. Then you can manually indicate and the car will move into the other lane - even while you are in Full Self Driving
@ChimChimIsDead Жыл бұрын
@@model3man That's what we did for that too. Do a test to verify. For now when we do freeway driving, we will select the middle option in AutoPilot menu. The three autopilot menu need a description on when those options are used. Thanks for replying.

Would you tell me if you have the feeling that it drives the turns too on the external side of the turn, or if it keeps a bit the internal part of the turn like usually humans do?
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Very good question. My experience is that it keeps to the inner part of a turn, not the outer part. It used to ‘dead centre’ itself on the lane but now it tends to say closer to the inside area of a lane and not to the outside area on a bend. That of course is how most humans drive.

4:11 this following distance feels a bit uncomfortable for me for 45 kph. The distance at 4:21 feels safe and natural for me.
@model3man Жыл бұрын
Yes - following distance is a very personal thing and of course it can be adjusted with the right side scroll wheel. Also, being in the car, you experience it differently from watching it on the video, so there is that.
@RubenKelevra Жыл бұрын
@@model3man nah I think the view over the hood in the video is pretty accurate on what I would see from inside the car. Is it still adjustable? I thought they incorporated this into the chill/average/assertive profiles.

@@RubenKelevra just went back to the video to check your 4:11 and 4:20 time markers. The 4:11 at the speed I was travelling was just fine. Distanced definitely are deceptive in a video. My belief is that yes - you can, but not closer than a 3 however, I will go test that hypothesis and let you know the outcome.

How does 11.3.6 handle an animal crossing in front of the car? I recall you have had collisions with deer twice, before FSD. Does FSD detect and avoid animals?

Brand new cars, new sensors, not covered in grime, pristinely maintained in perfect weather conditions. What is going to happen when these cars age, get passed to the second or third owners with less funds to maintain and get driven in dark rainy conditions with poor line marking?
@model3man Жыл бұрын
I don’t think the ageing will be an issue as the cameras and the FSD computer last pretty much indefinitely. However, you make a very valid point about keeping the car’s cameras and sensors clean before you start a trip. This is something Tesla drivers have to get used to it, and if the sensors and the cameras are clean and usable, the age of the car does not matter. Tough thing of course is that if the rain or the snow is so heavy, it covers the cameras then of course FSD cannot possibly work. That is always going to be true.
@javaphyz Жыл бұрын
Whenever Tesla DETECTS that it can not SEE well enough (ie: blocked camera) it will TELL the driver, and if necessary it will refuse to drive in Autopilot. So NOT dangerous, but if you own a very old Tesla that you can not maintain, of course you are going to maybe not have a “self driving” car any longer. (But most BRAND NEW cars can’t self drive NOW)
@trengilly01 Жыл бұрын
The main forward facing cameras are behind the windscreen and Tesla will activate the windshield washer whenever it needs to clean the glass in front of them. So there is no issue with those. A long time ago someone tested autopilot by putting tape over the cameras to see what it could do. The side/rear cameras weren't 'essential'. As long as the front cameras were clear it could manage basic driving. If the car can't drive safely it tells you and/or won't operate.

That “left turn” into oncoming traffic near the end was about the WORST thing I have EVER seen FSD do on videos or in person… It was almost WITHOUT warning, from the WRONG lane, and would have definitely ended in a head-on collision if the DRIVER had not taken action immediately. It was like it tricked you by showing intentions to go STRAIGHT and then when you look up to watch the road it suddenly changed the “wand” to a left with only a brief “left turn” blinker as any warning at all….. (PS: I’m a Tesla bull, and drive Model 3 with FSD 11 right now. Seeing this happen in your drive is extremely frustrating.)

@model3man Жыл бұрын
Ha ha. Thank you for your honesty. However, I think you missed the part in the beginning where I said that the camera recording the touchscreen was completely out of focus - so there was no point in making it larger. You would not have seen any details on it. That’s the only reason why I made it small as you will see from previous videos where it has always been much larger. I’ve always made it bigger. However, when it’s not a focus, it’s not usable.
