@jessiejanson1528Күн бұрын
It can. The issue is the barrier is too low so it looks flat to FSD untill it's able to see it for more than a second and then it's too late.

FSD used to do that, albeit with 300,000 lines of code.

Hopefully the Cybertruck is being trained on data collected from Cybertrucks, and if that’s true, then it probably just hasn’t collected enough/any data on Turbo rotaries yet. It DOES feel like there’s an issue though, almost like the algorithm to calculate the amount of steering input for the required turn is putting in too much steering input, because the Cybertruck seems to “clip” left turns alot. Almost like either the wheelbase was modeled shorter than it really is, or maybe the rear steering is turned off in FSD or something.

Good find. Fairly unusual arrangement although on paper should be well defined. 3:58 it stopped following its curved tentacle and just went straight for a moment. I can't recall seeing that before. It's possible that cybertruck FSD is a much less mature model than for the other cars. on your unprotected left it takes a distinctly different path so it is at least different and it could be a significant amount, not just style points. Nice drone view

Fantastic drive! And I’ve never seen a roundabout like that one. I love it! It’s obvious to me that Tesla FSD needs a little more work on this roundabout. Once they get it, they’ll have it forever. I’m not worried. Just be careful until they do.
@linuxwarrior12 күн бұрын
That roundabout is stupid. Restricting your options just because people don't know how to drive? Forcing you to think in advance what side you are, adding obstacles between the lanes ... Roundabouts are meant for faster flow than an intersection, and i'm sure they are safer, but if everyone ends up taking the wrong exit and has to go back a second time, you go against the original purpose of higher flow rate. Great content, Chuck, as usual!

Roundabouts save lives! “Cybertruck vs. The Turbo Roundabout” is a great mov 5:07 ie title. yes, good map data for good lane choice but when struggling with the less defined lane edges there are bad results? Its legal to drive up on the inside apron but then at that point FSD has to treat that as “not a curb“

Add four navigation points on the streets around the roundabout and just switch them up, once you passed it. This way FSD never disengages and does the turn around for you. Also make sure the navigation points are far away from the roundabout, so you get the prompt to send in audio feedback, if you need to disengage :)

From the country that invented modern roundabouts, the UK, this one is just a toddler in the world of roundabouts. The zenith of roundabout madness is the Magic Roundabout in Swindon. It defeats quite a lot of humans and would surely defeat FSD.

We have these kind of roundabouts for ages already here in the Netherlands
@Gargamel-n-Rudmilla2 күн бұрын
Great find, this turbo roundabout shows us that Tesla still uses map data and that the cars can not read and interpret signs. Even if it did, the rules of the roundabout are unique. To be honest if humans never knew the rules we would find it difficult too. In that respect the Tesla did amazingly well. A lidar autonomous car would have not even attempted to go through the turbo and the operators would force the car to avoid it at all costs. The fact that the Cybertruck is large I think made the turbo difficult also. In a model S3X or Y it woyld be easy since there is more room and thus ther is less risk of hittimg the curbs.

Big thanks to Chuck for doing many edge cases testing like this 👍🏼👏🏼🙏🏼 This is the kind of testing that Tesla ADAS testers need to do. Is there a way you could send them the cameras recording from your manual driving (with multiple scenarios) through this roundabout?

This is a VERY good example of how bad the vision system actually is. The roundabout is NOT mapped fully and this shows clearly. Because, the car normally uses map data and overlay that onto vision to position itself, but here it does not work and thus it fails miserably. I have to disengage to avoid true crashes, wrong lane driving, running off the road, turns into oncoming traffic and similar about 5-6 times in my simple 20 minute/15 mile commute into town. Also have to adjust the speed a lot or disengage to force it to slow down from 75-65-55-45-35 as enter town slowly as it'll just keep 75 all the way past 35 signs. It's good for straight/slightly curved freeway driving at this point.
