Aiden was my first Sesnei in Karate back in 86 and we trained every Tues and Thurs at Redhill Dojo. Plus whenever I could I attended his Nottingham Council sponsored squad training sessions. A great Karateka, an inspirational character and a very likeable person. Thanks Sensei for starting my Martial Arts road...Peter Sheffield, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

I never realised how good this man was, I was always a fan of O'Neill, Cattle and Brennan. Respect to you sir!

I think Aidan was a truly great Karate fighter, one of the best of his time and had he not had a serious shoulder injury who knows what he would have gone on to achieve (not that he didn't achieve a lot anyway)!!!

Saw him in the 80's very strong, extremely athletic fighter, his kicks were delivered so fluidly and naturally , he was never tense or planted, he was the best fighter i've seen including the top Japanese JKA fighters ,only Kagawa was in same league...

Wow, I trained with you a few years back at Neils club in Cumbria, I wish I hadn't had quit now. After looking at videos about it online it makes me want to get back into it but now i'm 16 and it's probably too late.

can't find the comment but as someone else said, sport karate isn't the same as traditional karate. They don't wear head guards with traditional and don't keep hands low either- I don't think they score backfist, side kick or hopping round kicks either. Lyoto Machida is real karate? Karate isn't my cup of tea (although I wish I did Kyokushin instead of Kickboxing)

Our point-fighting-rules kumite is indeed much more thrilling & entertaining than full-contact kumite.
