Turning on the yellow electric pump seems a good idea... but only on the flight simulator. In the real plane, the Y ELEC PUMP has much less capacity than any of the EDP (Engine driven pumps) and wont be able to cope with the demands of both Hydraulics (G+Y). You`d have an OVHT in no time. (That´s why it is not an Airbus Procedure to switch it on in case of a Dual Eng Failure). One could however use the Yellow Elec Pump with the PTU off and thus have two Hyd Sys instead of only the blue one.

He answered every single comment but this one. he did neither correct nor confirm your statement, too much pride in stake XD
@Blackbox7117 жыл бұрын
Yep. In real life that is probably the case. I have never tried it 😉. But then again, I would risk a overheated hydraulic system than land with slats only and not have the resources to increase drag in order to hit the runway with a decent energy state. But this is going to far here. I have always said that everything shown here is for flight simulation use only. Up to now I have had nobody complain. Regards and Happy Landings
@abdbach3797 жыл бұрын
Yep that did it. Alexandre just got himself an answer! I'm joking I just wanted to get you to answer the question because I was interested too. Sorry :)
@Blackbox7117 жыл бұрын
+abd bach ... I totally missed the post from Alexandre, so your post actually pointed that out to me. Thank you for that. Alexandre seems to be a professional Airbus pilot and he is correct that in real life the yellow electric pump could overheat rather quickly with supplying the green system via the PTU. But if you use his quoted procedure, the green hydraulic system would be without pressure and hence the flaps and slats would extend at half speed. Also the landing gear could only be extended via manual gear extension, which also takes time. And in this simulator you do not have a helping copilot. Anyways, I am glad that there are alot of people showing an interest in this topic. I wish you always happy Landings, BB
@Miguel03635 жыл бұрын
ok, I get that you never tried it. Thank God i didn't as well, but saying that you would take the risk of an overheating hydraulic instead of landing with slats only is one of the most ridiculous statements i have ever read. Also, hydraulic arquitechture, yellow system gives you flap movement, since it controls the SFCC 2. Of course you'd have slats and flaps slow, but you still have them. Nevertheless, great video dude!@@Blackbox711

Hi J.D. Invictus. Thank you for your comment. On any other PC Simulator I would say "no way". But with the FSL A320 I have to say I do feel it could be done. Really good work. However, obviously important to not flare too early and too long (you did it brilliantly), because as you can see in 6:32 and later, RAT becomes insufficient below 150 KIAS. You've got a hydraulic backup by the APU, but a second affect - of course - you could stall and that is not good - even if only a few meters over the RWY surface. Please, correct me if I made a mistake in my comment. One of the best simpilots out there. IMHO it's definetely harder to fly a DUAL ENG FAIL in X-Plane, because of better simulation of the aerodynamics. I made it back with an A330, too, but landing was not as smooth as yours (R.I.P. LDG GEAR). Weiter so. Grüße vom VOR/DME KRH

Hi , thank you for sharing the dual engine failure emergency proc , but i do have few questions : 1. Why you did not armed the spoilers when landing ? Is that because the current hydraulic available didn't provide that ? ( I'm not often seen the pilot use spoilers when landing in emergency , just curious) 2. Why the autobrake did not activated when the aircraft touched down ? I saw you activated MED a/b, but didn't noticed the a/b worked because the green light isn't illuminated Thank you very much
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hi Nadim. 1) I simply forgot because I was communicating too much with my viewers in chat and it was supposed to be only a demonstration on how to glide down without any engine thrust. 2) The autobrake didn't engage because the spoilers did not deploy upon touchdown. The autobrake needs a signal from the spoilers to activate. Regards
@NadimRasheed8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your reply sir .. Ok now i get it , but right now I believe the spoilers will not powered because of the hydraulic anyway... waiting for other opinions... Anyway , Very educative and the instruction is very clear ;), keep it up ! Fyi , I was IVAO member too , see yaa on the skies ;D

All three hydraulics systems were working because of a little trick. Start the APU. Once it is running, switch on the Yellow Electric Pump (Overhead Panel). Now the PTU will also power the Green Hydraulic system. So Blue Hydraulic is powered by RAT, Yellow System by Electric Pump and Green System by PTU from Yellow Sytem. Regards
@NadimRasheed8 жыл бұрын
oh yeah sorry i forgot you did turn on APU which will provide the rest hydraulic in this case ... Thank you very much for your answer.. really appreciated

That brief APU fire warning, even displayed with procedure on the EWD for a short time, is probably just an artifact of how the systems work internally, but is that in the real airplane as well? If so, what causes it? Somehow, if I was a pilot, a spurious APU fire warning, however brief, is one of the last things I want to see in such a situation. 8)
@Blackbox7116 жыл бұрын
It happens sometimes in real life when systems power up. On a dual engine failure there are several power changes and hence these spurious warnings can occur.
@pilota32075 жыл бұрын
Hi. May I ask you one question: with the APU generator available you switch on the the yellow electric pump to regain the yellow and green hydraulic system. The aircraft manufacturer does not describe this procedure in the FCOM/QRH. Do you know why?
@Blackbox7115 жыл бұрын
Correct. Yes, they don’t want to publish this officially because Airbus says they can’t guarantee the flight controls will work correctly with the electric yellow pump and the PTU powering the green hydraulics.
@pilota32075 жыл бұрын
Blackbox711 Unterstand. Trank you. Another way would be to switch the PTU off. So the pump had to supply the yellow system only. So one could at least use the flaps.
@Blackbox7115 жыл бұрын
You could. But according to Airbus the yellow electric pump is for short period usage only.
@tydaftpk386 жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed if you don’t start the APU, the alternate braking does not work like it should in the real plane. Accumulator only with no yellow hydraulic pressure should work but it doesn’t.

@Blackbox7117 жыл бұрын

Yes, the FSLabs is very costly. But you get a very detailed simulator with extremely well modelled systems, including failures.
