I have a 2002 Tahoe. Original transmission with over 235k on it. It shudders when shifting at low speeds. Is it time for a rebuild or? I had the transmission oil replaced about 80k ago. I doubt the filter has ever been replaced.
@FSPtransmissions11 ай бұрын
I advise all customers who have a shudder/vibration to have it completely gone through. Something as small as bushing can be worn out and slowly but surely cause more damage. If it has 235k on it you’ve done a fantastic job on your maintenance and proper upkeep. She’s probably just getting tired.

I came looking for a 4L80e, don't these things break? I have a '99 Sierra 2500 4x4 with about 208k and the original tranny fluid. Drove it in the mountains around Reno NV pulling a popup camper trailer, owned it since 59k and just didn't pay attention to some of the maintenance, my bad. It's spent the last couple years on flatland, but the tranny fluid still smells okay. Am I just lucky?

Why do Chrysler/Dodge/Ram automatics suck? I love Dodge but i won't buy one with a automatic. Their 728 torque-flite always seemed to be a good trans. I believe the newer ones are based on the 727 but they suck. What's up with that?
@FSPtransmissions11 ай бұрын
The 727 and 904 are great transmissions but the 48re in the dodges are THE BEST. (Diesel) You can push a stock 48re case to 1,000 hp. I wouldn’t necessarily say Chrysler/Dodge suck, I would argue that upkeep and proper maintenance on the dodge models are more crucial. You can pour a cup of sand in a Chevy TH350 and it’ll still work (I haven’t tried but they are tough as nails) These newer drivelines won’t take that much neglect. But, if you want to hold some real hp the 48re is top dog.
