Congrats to Francisco Sánchez Ruíz for shooting his way into the 2022 U.S. Nine-Ball Championship win! Congrats also to Max Lechner for besting a field of 256 players to make it into the finals, a monumental achievement. Many of us have favorite players. Every one of them brilliant in their own way. Pool is blessed to have FSR and Lechner, both gentlemen, as representatives. The world is rocked by controversy in sports, whether it be with drugs or, recently with LIV golf, choosing greed over values. Pool players are different. The prize money is little compared to many other sports. Pool players play for the love of the game. Here's to pool's trajectory upwards. I feel like the pros, especially the top pros, have really shown the level of pool that they are capable of in this event. This is the level they've been cooking up during the pandemic. It just took a little time for them to get comfortable in international competitions again.

Congrats to the winner (no spoiler)! Well done. But, I agree with others - If this is the biggest pool tournament of the year, there should be much more excitement for the finals, especially celebration for the winner. Lights, confetti, audio, music, him being attacked by his mates... just a huge celebration. The winner had to walk around and garner up his own excitement. Let's do better!

Solid production Matchroom. PLEASE use a traditional set of balls. I can't tell the 2 from 5, and only can tell the 3 from 7 and 4 from 6 by shade. It makes it very hard to see the run out pattern. A traditional set will all show well with the gray cloth. Thanks

How many matches do you have to watch before you get it ?

I've acclimated to Aramith balls but their hue, tint, and shade need to be redesigned based on optical science. In this tournament, there was the now infamous confusion between the pink 4-ball and purple 5-ball. Their hues are too similar and the numbering is too close together. Each ball must be differentiated from the next ball clearly, especially when viewed on TVs and computer monitors. It's not rocket science.

I like the rule being used in 8 and 10 balls where you need to pocket the target ball in the identified pocket; no accidental pocketing of the ball. But congratulations to the two finalists and eventual winner. A great match.

No question that they are both great players, but I am unsure about their ability to play at their absolute best under pressure. We will certainly find out in the Mosconi. Nothing in pool compares to the pressure in that event.
