UGA fan here, wanted to let anyone who reads this know that I was one of the folks who felt like this team was snubbed. I loved the fight this team showed & I rooted for you guys all season long. This game won’t matter come next season & I’m hoping to see this coach’s teams in the playoffs for many years to come. Special group of guys and a lot of memories from a great season from the Noles! Will root for you guys any time you’re not playing my Dawgs! 😜 this definitely won’t be the last time y’all’s boys will be competing for championships!

He won't say it. But, the players who quit on the team and had the audacity to stand on the sideline and watch your team mates/freshmen get their face kicked in while you stand around in a t-shirt had to have felt like complete cowards. Georgia's players didn't sit out. Last year Alabama got left out and played their guys in a bowl game vs K-State. That included #1 pick Bryce Young, #3 Will Anderson Jr, and #12 Jahmyr Gibbs. Those programs have players who care about their legacy and the team. This was a really poor look for FSU culture. You didn't opt out. You quit and bowed out. I'm sure your team getting battered while you watched earned you loads of respect from them. Cowards.

Coach Norvell is obviously taking this loss hard. From a a diehard Dawg, take heart...the sun will rise again. Florida State has a coach who does things the the right way, but more importantly he cares deeply about his players. This was a loss, but it's also a springboard. I personally have more respect for Coach Norvell who is building something than a guy like Ryan Day who was given the keys to a Ferrari and turned them into a Chevy ( no offense to Chevy) while he whines and moans and makes excuses. First, congrats to UGA for the win. Y’all had a great year. As for FSU, hats off to a great year. It’s clear that the snub had a major impact on the team and one can’t blame players for not being “up” to playing in the Orange Bowl. Fact is, the team from last year bought in and came back for a reason and as Norvell said - they did literally everything they were asked to do. To do that and STILL get robbed of an opportunity is going to be extremely hard mentally for 18-24 year olds. I personally can’t blame the team for basically falling apart with the transfers and opt outs - to them it was playoffs or bust and when they got snubbed I think mentally there was nothing to play for anymore - hell, most of us fans felt the same way. Reality of the situation though is this - ESPN was lobbying against FSU in the playoff, even before Travis got injured. They, like everyone else saw the very real possibility that Alabama, despite their poor showings against multiple teams, mainly Texas, USF and Auburn, could possibly beat UGA and that if it happened, there was no way to justify a #8 SEC Champion in Alabama over Texas, because they lost to them, or even worse, an undefeated FSU team. Travis getting hurt sealed FSUs fate, though it’s highly likely even if he hadn’t got hurt, FSU still would have been snubbed and the reason switches from his injury to something else like SOS. FSU wasn’t gonna be in no matter what and when you consider that the ACC had 5 people on the committee, to include the chairman, it only adds fuel to that fire. This game meant nothing and the result in no way defined the team that went undefeated. That team will always remain undefeated. The team that lost by 60 is a completely different one. Go Noles

FSU handled being left out of the CFP like absolute infants from start to finish. That goes for both players and fans. You all deserve this loss, and the rest of college football is relishing in it for a reason. The score of this game reflects a lack of heart and a lack of championship mentality. It shouldn’t be mistaken for anything else and it’s inexcusable. This year, Georgia was left out of the playoff despite clearly looking as if they could compete for a third straight championship. They lost a single matchup by three points after 29 straight wins. Their starters still showed up to finish the season with pride. Last year, Alabama got left out after losing two games by a combined 4 points. They clearly were a superior team to TCU, but instead of pouting and sending lawsuits, they suited up and got ready to play. With a #1 overall draft pick, a #3 overall draft pick, and 8 other drafted players - Bama had ZERO opt outs. They showed up and blew out the BIG12 champions. THEY made a REAL point. And as a result THIS year they got the benefit of the doubt over an FSU team with serious questions about their playoff viability. In this game, you are entitled to NOTHING. You have to do the best with the opportunities presented to you. Your starters CHOSE to give up on their own teammates. They CHOSE to give up on a potential undefeated season. They CHOSE to embarrass their program on this national stage, and become the most antagonized team of the year in the process. That’s how this team will be remembered. In the mean time, comfort yourselves with all the platitudes you like.

OMG give it up ....there was no snub. There are 5 official NCAA eligibility criteria (read them); FSU got past No. 1 (Conference champ), So did Bama... but No. 2 (Strength of Schedule) follows No. 1 and FSU had no shot here: Pre-Season SoS Rankings: Alabama = 31 ..... Texas 21 .... FSU = 78 .... Georgia = 63 Post-Season SoS Rankings: Alabama 6 ..... Texas 2 .... FSU = 55 .... Georgia = 45 31 is a better ranking than 78 ... that's 47 teams between FSU and Bama that faced a tougher schedule 6 is a better ranking than 55 ... that's 49 teams between FSU and Bama that faced a tougher schedule This criteria exists in the official rules to separate deserving teams against teams that fattened their record by not playing weak teams ... the same rule knocked out Georgia and we don't hear them whining about it. I rooted for FSU throughout he entire year as I did Georgia. It's not FSUs fault that they has a weak schedule, same is true for Georgia.... these change from year to year. However, the committee must have a yardstick to measure the wide discrepancy in talent between the conferences (SEC Average Opponent Ranking - 25 / ACC Average Opponent Ranking - 56 / MAC Average opponent Ranking - 85. And the 2nd of the the 5 criteria exists for this purpose. If being undefeated means something (not listed in official NCAA criteria) then Liberty has almost as much a claim as FSU. Ole Miss's post-season schedule was ranked 39th Penn State's was ranked 58th... did you watch what Ole Miss did to Penn today ? and with just 19 spots in the rankings apart ? Suffice to say if the 1 loss team your facing has a schedule that is ranked 45+ spots better than your's, don't keep ya hopes up.

It is hard to watch Coach choke up. You can tell his heart breaks for his young men. His character and dedication is second to none. I hope each and every member of the CFP watched this game and maybe will realize that their insane decision broke this team. These young men played their guts out and were tossed aside because of MONEY! Some of them couldn't take it. Mike knows it, we know it and I hope they (CFP) knows it too. Maybe they'll find it in their hearts to move forward with some motivation other than money so this never happens again to another group of young men. It's unfortunate it had to be the team I've loved, and will continue to love, for nearly 50 years. We're 13-0 and ACC Champs! NOONE can take that from these young men. I hope they and Coach can put this mess behind them and celebrate their accomplishments. Keep climbing. Always a Nole. Go Noles.

I’m so glad this team wasn’t in the playoff. In making the argument to be in the playoff, FSU relied on this being a team game, that the absence of personnel shouldn’t and doesn’t matter. So I don’t want to hear Norvell talking about how young his guys were in the Orange Bowl, how inexperienced they were, etc. Either missing players means something (and you don’t belong in the playoff) or it doesn’t. If it doesn’t, you had no excuse for losing by 60 points. Can’t have it both ways. Just admit the loss of significant players negatively impacts your team, just like it does every team.

They will learn from this as a team and they have a ton of really good offensive plays that Georgia had to see how they can vastly improve defensive positioning and scheming. @@Catdaddy17terrible comment. Nothing was stolen from FSU. The culture there just got exposed. They cried (as you are) and quit. Shameful.

@@Catdaddy17 awful analogy. FSU also got what they earned - a big bowl from going undefeated with a mid schedule. Why aren't you arguing for Liberty in the playoff at 13-0?

As a Georgia fan, I want to say a few things, even if FSU is not in the mood to hear it right now. This is not really directed at FSU, it is for all of college football, and young people in general. First, it seems like Norvell is a pretty good guy, and a pretty good coach. I'm sure the last month is one of the most frustrating things he has ever been through professionally. I feel bad for the FSU players who did show up for the Orange Bowl. They deserved better. Did FSU deserve to be in the playoff? Probably, maybe. Did Georgia deserve to be in the playoff? Probably not. Is Georgia one of the four best teams? Probably. Were both teams disappointed to be left out of the playoff no matter the reason? Definitely, yes. There is a lesson to be learned here bigger than football. The Georgia and FSU players and coaches had a choice to make on how to handle disappointment. A good number of FSU players saw their coaches and fans and fellow teammates sulk and pout and complain about the selection, and decided the best way to handle it was to quit. FSU could have shut their mouths, shown up, practiced hard over the last full month, and given their best effort to beat the two-time defending national champions, proving everyone wrong. Had they done that, they would have gained everyone's respect all across the country. Instead, the culture of the program was not enough to hold it together, and many players quit on their teammates. Lord knows Florida State is not alone with this cancer of culture. It is all across America. We all got to see Marvin Harrison standing on the sideline watching his team lose the other night. In the Cotton Bowl vs. the number 9 team in the country. Disgraceful, IMO. If he wanted to quit on the program that gave him an opportunity, an education, training, and development, he should have stayed in Ohio. Georgia players on the other hand, after yet another bitter loss to Alabama, all decided to shut up, stay together, and concentrate on preparation during the last month. We see the result. I don’t know what Kirby’s special sauce is, but whatever it is, it is working. Coaching is about a hell of a lot more than calling plays and signing up good players. This is the main reason Saban is the best there has ever been. Culture and attitude are more important than ever, in football and in life. The number one rule to success: First show up. Honestly, football is not really that important. When it comes down to it, it is just a game. How you handle yourself and how you are remembered though, is all you have. See the Missouri running back, Schrader. That is a hungry young man who is grateful for the opportunity and plays the game the way it should be played. Truly great men are remembered for how they are different from those around them when they decide to make the hard choice through adversity.

This shows the difference between a team with character verses one without any. A championship winning program in Georgia that wants to play for their coach, fans, school and coach, verses one that doesn't. A championship program that wanted to prove to the world that they were one of the best four teams, verses one that had the opportunity, but chose to be cowards. How Norvell can go in front of everyone and say he is proud of what this team did after half of them quit on him, is beyond me. There should be a trophy for worse loss in bowl history, and it should have the name of every crybaby that sat out on it.
