Norvell is from Texas. They'd play baylor, SMU. Get exposer in Texas, and with oklahoma and Texas leaving, it would be easier to get through then the big 10

I am by no means a FSU fan. I am born and raised in Miami hurricane but I feel that what fsu is doing is good. I hope they win the lawsuit and get out of the ACC. And God willing, Miami follows there lead. The acc is in shambles. The officiating is a joke and the people at the top of the ACC organization are cowards who don’t stick up for teams in their own conference.

As an FSU fan, I hope this leads to exactly what you are saying. I don't want Miami to be half a billion dollars behind such programs like Vanderbilt either. I miss the days when the Florida schools were the bullies. Ill bet the SEC and ESPN colluded to keep the ACC down for 20 years, then to add them at a very small cost because their programs have been virtually destroyed. This all smells like corruption. I looked at the 2013 GoR and the 2016 amendment to it. It seems real fishy as 0 schools left or were added in that time frame. Schools to sign didn't match both documents. It's also seems illegal that members who signed a document aren't allowed their own copies. Can't wait for the discovery phase.

If I could only believe everything someone presents, I would be a happy camper! 1. So 7 acc schools reviewed the contracts and only fsu’s counsel/outside counsel was the only one to find legal grounds to legitimately exit the acc? 2. Part of the issue of the poor acc’s football reputation is directly related to fsu’s (and va tech, Miami’s) performance on the football field over the recent years. Heck fsu has lost 5 out of the last 6 games to NC State. 3. So the previous fsu’s administration that signed the contract was grossly incompetent and signed a bad contract? More importantly, the fsu administration didn’t know any better to ask material questions about the contract? 4. How long is the acc contract and how much was fsu paid/is expected to be paid over the term? How much is the penalty vs the expected compensation for fsu? 5. What is the max penalty under Florida statutes? What is the legitimate exit payment for fsu? I would think the $570 million dollar penalty is exaggerated to violate Florida statutes. This whole debate is baseless. FSU will be in the acc for many years to come and Georgia will crush FSU in the bowl proving that fsu was inferior. You can lean on the fact that fsu players decided not to play in them bowl game, but the nation knows fsu is good but not that good.

The B1G was happy to sit back and let Ohio State win a few nattys while the rest of the conference made it money off football viewership and academic research. It's a new era where the B1G will have more money,more exposure, and more media partners than the SEC. The B1G is taking on programs that will move the conference from 2 or 3 elite football schools, to 6 elites. And thats not even counting if Wisconsin,Michigan State, Nebraska, restore their brands. FSU joining the B1G will only make it even more of a monster.

It's either the Big 10 or Big 12, why would ESPN who owns ACC rights be ok with getting sued for them to just join the SEC. They could easily just work out a deal without being sued themselves to move FSU into SEC.

@@RedMage409 ESPN didn't rob FSU, but they drove the getaway car. ESPN has invested tens of millions into the ACC Network and FSU is the biggest audience for that channel. They're basically about to lose their investment in the ACC Network while having to pay more for FSU TV rights if they went to the SEC. And it's only of marginal benefit because they're already broadcasting in Florida. A lot of insiders are saying that the SEC is focused #1 on UNC, and #2 on UVA, and is happy with those two additions. They'll stomach NCST and VT if necessary to bring those two on board. I think FSU fans called it right that the ACC sucked and they had to get out and would quickly find a home. I think you may be overvaluing how much the SEC and ESPN will want you before UNC becomes available.

@@heartbreak25 I think you overestimate the SEC’s probability of landing UNC and UVA. Those schools are academics focused and don’t care about football. This aligns them with the Big Ten, not the SEC. Also, their viewership is abysmal. Both FSU and Clemson pull in more than twice the viewership and are much better marquee matchups for ESPN. The new markets argument is a decade out of date. Would ESPN want to lose the top ACC schools to Fox and still have to pay the same amount for a greatly diminished ACC product? Better to keep them and pay a little more than hand them over to their main competitor AND still have to keep paying the ACC since they added 3 schools and still have the minimum 15.

@@RedMage409 You underestimate how comfortable the SEC is not expanding beyond 16 teams unless it's the right fit. Sankey has repeatedly said that and proved it by making zero effort to expand after the PAC-12 collapsed. You also underestimate the fact that ESPN is already financially challenged and has to bid on the new NBA TV deal. This position of "FSU has TV ratings" is redundant for a network already broadcasting where FSU viewers are already watching. This supposed ROI is a diminishing return. Being that each member school has to vote in a new member, why would the existing SEC schools vote in a new member who competes with them for recruits in the region across multiple sports? And I don't think you get the market strategy. When the B1G went to LA, TV ratings were secondary. It had everything to do with LA having the 2nd largest concentration of B1G alums after Chicago. As a PSU alum who lives in Chicago, you know what we do? We have high-paying jobs and spend A LOT of money on goods and services. Advertisers know this which is why they spend a lot of money on Fox, NBC, CBS, and the B1G Network to advertise to us. The reason why B1G earns more money than the SEC despite an inferior football product is because their markets, schools, alums, donors, and high-income consumers all overlap. Do you think insurance companies want to sell policies in the entire states of Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and South Carolina, or just NYC? Do you know where a lot of B1G graduates and alums now live and continue to move? Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia. Fox isn't solely focused on FSU fans watching FSU fans. They care about the B1G Network being broadcast 24/7 to OSU and UM fans living in Tampa and Charlotte. Again, what does FSU offer the SEC they don't already have is that FSU fans are going to watch SEC games regardless because of the regional broadcasting and the annual Gators game? Like I said, don't listen to me, listen to the insiders. FSU fans who want to go to the SEC want it more than the SEC currently wants FSU.

Big Noles fan here since the early 80's. Still, we signed a contract in good faith with the ACC decades ago. Honor it. Besides, we don't need to go anywhere. Instead, why not try to induce Notre Dame into the conference. The Irish are already an ACC basketball member and have been. Notre Dame added to the ACC would solve any disputes and raise the level of the conference dramatically.

@@jamesb0255 I’m sure that’s what ACC is looking for: federal arbitration. But I don’t think they can get there because there is neither diversity jurisdiction or federal question. If you read FSU’s suit, they did not mention a federal claim once. Only state law claims. Since the plaintiff gets gets to pick which laws it sues under and FSU chose only state claims, there is no federal claim (even though ACC believes that FSU could sue under federal antitrust law). Also, I think this case will be heard under Florida State law as ACC engages in business operations in Florida and is doing business with the state of Florida via FSU. So Florida would have jurisdiction. It’s a good try from ACC’s side tho. We’ll just have to see how this goes.

Legally: If courts rule in FSUs favor it sets a slippery precedence that whenever a business's competitor(s) becomes more valuable, then that business has a right to break contracts that they perceive are causing them to have less value. This would be a head scratcher in contract law if courts go down this path.
