FTA Satellite 103 West KU Band SES 3 Update - Where did all the FTA TV Channels Go?

DW English is still broadcasting FTA in Europe on Astra 19.2 East and on most European cable companies.

UK is going to end satellite broadcast on Astra 28.2 East by 2030 and rumors have it that it will also end terrestrial broadcast. Only DAB+ radio will remain on air. As for TV it will broadcast on internet IPTV format, even pay TV channels such as SKY UK will be available online. I'm thinking maybe North America want's to do the exact same thing like UK or satellites will be used for Dish Network, Direc TV, and the FTA channels will only broadcast on Galaxy 97 West.

@@NorthcoasterHobby I perfectly understand the reason. No frequency limitation, no resolution limitation due to codecs, bandwith. License and costs are very cheap, can be available around the world if they have good servers. The downside is that you need an internet connection and Elon Musk's Starlink isn't available world wide, maybe in 10 years satellite internet will be available everywhere with high speed internet. My opinion is, that cable TV should be IPTV only. And if you have a non Smart TV the cable companies cand offer you an IPTV bos (they are available in most electronic stores and are cheap). No worries with frequancy ,splitters ,CATV amplifier.

97w still have a few channels ? Just trying to figure out where to tune in next, in mn with my ku band

A friend of mine who lives in USA said that 5 years ago Galaxy 97 West had more channels than now. Even on that satellite more channels are ending the broadcast and either move on DirecTV, Dish but encrypted or only on cable.

I seen on Ricks satellite forum that someone asked about the satellite feed and it was confirmed that it would not be coming back. It is gone permanently.

Man is that your array ??? Im embarassed just having 3 8 bays up there. What band are those for ? and how much free stuff is there ? I notice a few channels up and changed on me resently where I'm pointing

@@zandig666 The smaller dishes are all KU band. Right now I am changing the position of some of them. there’s not as much free to air channels in North America, but in my opinion is still worth putting up a dish. Each satellite generally has a few channels in the clear, some more, some less. It’s a fun hobby.

@@NorthcoasterHobby I'm just a uhf vhf guy north shore of lake ontario pointing at Toronto, Buffalo and Rochester getting great selection and reception good spot only gets better in the fall/winter when the leaves are off the trees 🍻📶📶
