pjoj As the Mum of a trans teenager the best thing to do is to be honest and straightforward. The chances are that your Mum will already have some suspicions that there might be something you're not talking to her about. I don't know her but I do know lots of other parents of trans children and teenagers here in the UK. I belong to a charity called Mermaids for both the trans children and their families, there are lots of us across the UK of all ages. Some parents do struggle, but the vast majority just want to know what's happening so they can love and support their kids.

I had to pee in front of a nurse I've never seen before, for a urodynamic test 😐 The test in it itself is very uncomfortable and a bit embarassing. Ended up needing to take meds for my bladder lol. Ahhh the joys of childbirth lol. Luckily the meds have fixed my problem 😊

My 21 year old son has had to dilate the top 2 inches of his penis once a week since the age of 14. As a result of scarring after he had an emergency circumcision at the age of 6 the tip of the urethra was scarred and he developed meatal stenosis. It wasn't a problem until he went through puberty and the size of his genitals changed but the diameter of the urethra didn't. Having the larger capacity bladder didn't help too and he started getting urinary tract infections because of urinary retention issues. He had several dilation procedures under general anesthesia and now has to dilate every week for the rest of his life. The problems trans men have with the tip of their phallus are basically the same as cis gendered guys with meatal stenosis.

@@Codytalks11 the problem with penises is that when they go wrong they can go spectacularly wrong. My sister who was actually born my brother was born with hypospadias . Even after corrective surgery aged 3 the stream of urine was unpredictable right up until the day she had her vaginoplasty. In her case this was an intersex condition. From watching mum change my nappy as a new baby and my sister being almost 4 she realised back then that her birth assigned genitalia didn't match what she felt. Years later she told me that when she saw me she realised that she should have the same genitalia as me.
