That white piece is usually the problem . You need to look at it with a magnifying glass and check the wearing of the two arms. They will wear out ,break and form a sharp edge that will scratch through the black layer on the green potentiometer that you bent out. If you see the metal under the black coating then you need to replace the green part as well as the white part. The best thing you can do is replace the white piece be for it is damaged . Or you will be doing some soldering.
@Francisco-iq9vu4 ай бұрын
what is the name of the piece? id have to buy a new one, I see mine is chipped which must have been why its drifting
@randumdude58244 ай бұрын
I’m unsure the name of each part . But here is the brand I have used for ps5 dual sense. On Amazon . Onyehn . 15pcs/Set 2k3 Ohm Potentiometer Replacement for Dualsense PS5 . The white pice and the green piece make up the entire part the potentiometer. After three months of playing I would check each potentiometer if you see that black ring on the inside of the green piece is showing bare metal try changing just the white piece before attempting any soldering. It. May work with out needing to change the green piece . With a magnifying glass Look at the old white piece and locate two arm and you should see how they are worn down to a Point that damages the green part. Your goal should be to check the white piece every few months and swap it out defore the arms on the white pice wear out. Note, the arms on the white piece are at the 9 o’clock and 3 o’clock position Good luck.

Bro, ignore the ignorant. Thanks for dropping knowledge on us, I saved this vid. But imma see how long I can make my dualsense controllers last without stick drift. My nintendo switch pro controller got it so badly and tried all methods except for taking it apart. I have a cheap controller from Amazon that I've been using ($14) and all I need to do is recalibrate it and it goes back to normal...it has been by far the best controller and hasn't had stick drift since acknowledging that placing it upside-down on any surface will surely cause drift. So with these dualsenses, I plan to take extra care of them (make sure they're properly stored, cover from dust, etc.) and not treat the items like dirty teens or young adults and see how long they actually last. Legend has it, some people have never had stick drift problems because they actually took care of their controllers 🤷🏼♂️

Thanks for the help bro, but this ultimately didn't work out for me. I was destined to fail from the start. A small piece from the white disk thing from inside of the green opening "gate" as you called it, has been damaged and needed replacing (which I can't afford rn & can't risk breaking another piece trying to replace it), hence why it had aggressive stick drift in the first place. No amount of cleaning was going to fix that. It's too complicated for me as it is, and now it's beyond anything that I can do for it. This controller is my NEWER controller. I've hardly used it all that much, but soon after it came out of the box, it already had the drift. Slowly at first, but gradually increasing in aggressiveness. The problem with that is the fact that I'm sure I didn't get a warranty on it, and if I did, it wouldn't matter, because of the fact that I kept it displayed on my desk for at least a year or two before finally opening it. I wanted to open it as a backup when I felt I needed it the most (aka when my OG Ps5 controller got the drift), but the new controller had it too, but even worse. To this day, I'm still using my OG controller (it's my only option), because the drift isn't nearly as bad, and it happens off and on at random times. It can go weeks without any drift, and then it randomly comes back again. The newer controller is unplayable altogether, as EVERYTHING immediately goes to the left continuously without ever stopping. I can't even access a freakin menu to go to a damn game. I've been cheated out of $70 and given a shtty defective controller that I'm permanently stuck with. Smfh 🤬😤😮💨
@FuadPhenomenon2 ай бұрын
@@TheMitchZone hey buddy, that's quite unfortunate to have such drift already from the start. This shouldn't happen. Usually ppl get the drift some plays after opening the box. Given the situation u have with that potentiometer, I'd say there isn't much else u can do apart from desoldering the whole thing out and soldering a fresh one in. But I get you, thats a lot of time, investment and risk involved so ppl typically tend to avoid that (i would too!) I guess ur just safe to this day using those wired controllers, they rlly do slay. And yeah, hope ur OG controller survives longer! Thanks for the comment, wish u all the best mate

You said *FOUR* screws right???? I removed 4 screws from the spots you pointed at, but this mf won't budge for SHT. I pulled out the 2 lock points that you showed us; those are already separated, but somewhere around the top area of the controller is still resisting me. I'm pulling this thing as hard as I'm able to without breaking anything, but gyatdaym she's fighting me like a sonavabich. Is this so hard to take apart because of the controller never being taken apart before, or am I doing something wrong, or is there a *FIFTH* screw hidden somewhere that you forgot to mention??! 😤 *Update:* Okay. After *A LOT* of struggling and fighting, I finally got it open. I got to the green part, and opened it up for both analog sticks, and discovered something that's lowkey got me freaking out a bit. The white disk on the inside of the green part has a very tiny white piece of it broken off! It doesn't look like a major important piece, it's only a very tiny part from the white disk itself, but idk if it's already been like that, or if me pulling open the green part did it. I should mention tho that this is ONLY on the side of the stick that had the drift (which happens to be the most aggressive stick drift I ever had), which is the left stick. The other side is fine, and the white disk for the right stick seems completely fine. I can still try to continue on with the video and clean it up and whatnot, but I'm afraid it's not going to work at all now. I cannot afford a repair or a replacement right now, so I would be completely screwed. 😩😤☹️😮💨 *Update2:* I gave up, qnd put it all back together. It's 9:15am and I just want to be done with this sht. I'm not a tech guy at all, and all of this is just too damn complicated for me. It didn't work at all anyway. I suspect now that the tiny white piece could've already been broken or damn near it, and needed replacing, which could be why the drift is so damn aggressive. It could need a new white tray thing like he mentioned at the end, but I'd have to order new ones and I don't have money right now. I'm very tired and upset and want to be done with this sht. I don't deserve to go through this with a controller that has barely even been used much since it's been opened. Right back to the shelf it goes. 🙄😤😮💨

I was going crazy with my ps5 remote. Been super nice to it and all of a sudden for the last few months the left stick would randomly drift on its own whole playing and while navigating menus it also affected the directional pad. I was close to ordering a new one and saw this, I followed step by step from disassembly , cleaning with rubbing alcohol, to assembling and it's FIXED finally. It took me about 20 minutes while following this tutorial. Only problem I have now is that the left stick when you move it towards the right it's jammed so have to give it a harder push for it to go right but it works now, usually if you go any other direction you can move right. I've tested it playing fifa and battlefield and it works beautifully, it's annoying there's a clunking sound when I have to force push right on the left analog stick but it happens so fast the characters do move as intended, probably annoying but I saved some money for now meanwhile I wait for the new remote to come out. I might just order the whole box thing to replace instead since the jammed thingy is coming from there but thanks a lot, I finally don't have drift don't know why I waited until today. So far after a couple hours it's working fine.

Update: Today is my second day using my PlayStation 5 controller without any issues, and I still can't believe it, no more left stick drift! You've saved me a lot of money. The left stick also stopped getting stuck and now moves smoothly. Here's what happened: I wrapped a rubber band around both the left and right sticks, and after I removed it, the left stick felt like new, no more sticking! I was playing FIFA today, and even though I still had some stickiness with the left analog stick (but no more drift), I decided to wrap both joysticks with a rubber band when I was losing, just so the game would finish, and I could collect my rewards. After the game, I removed the rubber band and, to my surprise, the left stick could move smoothly to the right again. It honestly feels like I bought a new controller. Thank you so much! I'm sure karma will reward you and your family with good health, prosperity, and fortune. When you do good for others, the universe always finds a way to repay it.

My god! The most annoying bit was the black part/cover around the thumbsticks. But I did manage to solve the drift issue. I replaces the white part in the potentiometer.

I cleaned and replaced both of those little white pieces. It improved but still drifts.

The third method worked for my left stick, but after I cleaned the right stick, it just keeps spinning in game.

Does the first method work? I don’t want to accidentally break it.
