To hide the reflection off the lens its like a kill flash on a scope. Paint everything that shines, tape everything that jingles and tie everything dangling

@@livefreeordie1776 possibly. My weapon is normally at low ready but if aiming you might see a flash. Personally I don’t run a kill flash

@@JARG as you are driving down the road at 65 the reason you can spot a beer can on the side of the road in the weeds is because the sun is reflecting off it instantly drawing your eye to it. It's like a predator reflex it's why bass eat the lure. Once a person sees the shine they can see your shape no matter how good the camo is.

Exactly 💯 it's to prevent glare. Same reason you should invest in a anti glare cover for your optic

Almost certainly the most likely use of your long gun is going to be inside your own home or on your own property. Glint isn’t an issue. If it’s SHTF, WROL, or some major natural/national disaster, then sure. But looking around….Sniffer In Chief ain’t sent the F-15’s after us yet.

It protects the lens they get scratched up in dusty environments and they get moisture on them in wet foggy environs too

If you’re not running night vision then you don’t need it, it’s that simple. If you are running night vision you don’t want to be a white light.

I don't care for em bc I have a full length rail with a full sized light and it likes to snag of things when in and out of a car or a bag

Unless you are going to be crawling threw the jungle for days at a time than there is no need in having one. But it does serve a purpose. Just not your purpose.

I’m not a cop or soldier anymore, I don’t need to have it covered on my own property. Now, SHTF, sure! I don’t want that reflective thing giving me away. Be prepared for SHTF but realize it’s highly unlikely. None of my guns currently have any, more my scopes/RDS have flash kills. Should I get some? Probably. Will I? Probably not anytime soon.
