Thank you for all your time and your 40 years in passing along all your information to us Young bucks I'm glad you're feeling better and keep these videos coming I'm pretty mechanically inclined and I rip apart anything and everything I can to learn and put it back together and get it running never really thought I was smart enough to take apart these thousand piece carburetors and put it all pack together but here I am with my 87 Ford Cruise Master motorhome rebuilding the carburetor and your tips have helped me accelerator pump I change cuz it was leaking and I had no knowledge or experience even how to take the carburetor off but with your videos I also learned how to set the needle and seat I'm not good at it I am opening up the site hose and checking my gases today so thank you and I'm going to just on the idle screw do a little bit of adjusting it only stays idling when the choke is closed not when it's full open I see it full open my choke right now is stuck and it's full open it only goes 30 40 miles an hour so I'm having some difficulties adjusting everything it wasn't running at all and all I was doing was leaking but with me changing accelerator pump and my needle and seats everything has stopped now just find a tuning it and adjusting it is my problem took it out on the street the other day and it was backfiring stalling and sputtering and hesitating it wouldn't go past 30 mph so today I'm just in the idol setting my needle and seats correctly and taking it for another drive I knew nothing about carburetors Randy and I feel pretty powerful and put it pretty exhilarating as I'm putting this thing back together and it's coming out pretty good these are many moments here of studying and watching and lurking and going to my motorhome popping up the carburetor it's kind of harder and different because I'm working inside and on top and everything's backwards but I can reach to it and just just fine a little difficult but I'm managing and maintaining if I don't have any luck I am going to take the carburetor out and have it rebuilt there's my buddy out here at Ted's carburetor here in the antelope valley in Lancaster Justin he said call him Justin or Dustin doesn't matter is a fine carburetor Tunis comes from a background of family his father is there as well all building carburetors so it did give me some pointer and tips as well as I went to go see him and if anybody needs a good carburetor rebuilt let him know Patrick from the internet sent him over he calls me double hernia because I've had two hernias removed from my stomach and they were in my scrotums and we chopped it up for about a half an hour as he had his micro magnifying glass and is full on headquarter desk with everything old tool you could imagine every single spray you could imagine and he had about a thousand carburetors on his shelf and the guy was so legit and cool and had all the answers so he's probably going to be my go-to guy Randy thank you so much motivated me for 10 years but with what I learned from you I was able to fix it and get it running and now I'm going to turn it over to my buddy Ted at Ted's carburetor in Lancaster California . Thank you Randy I'm glad you're feeling better thanks for the tips I'll keep you posted when I'm camping in Malibu on the beach in my 87 Ford Cruise master Georgie boy got it all up and running like a old Penny I buffed it up and it's a gorgeous piece of art I'm super happy with my purchase and so far so good 87 Master Cruise Georgie boy I Love It

Hey a couple things I forgot to mention , pull one of your spark plugs out and check the plug for fuel fouling if it's sooty black this will cause the engine to backfire and run rough, if the spark plugs are sooty black definitely change them , but remember you have to fix the rich condition that's causing the spatk plugs to foul out, like a bad electric choke cap or no power to the choke or bad choke pull off diaphram or sticking choke linkage this is a common problem . Good luck to you , hope this infomation helps

Thanks Randy, glad you’re feeling better! I know this video is a few years old, but great timeless Holley Carb information! Can you do a video of a Holley 4150 center hung dry float initial setting before the Holley carb has fuel or installed on the vehicle.

Hi, Randy. Glad to see a new video. Speaking of "pulling the bowl screw threads out of the main body"- nightmare! Some years ago it happened to me when I was working on someone else's carb. The threads were probably already torn loose from previous tinkerer but I was the one who they came completely out on. I could not find proper size heli-coil for odd size threads anywhere except from Holley Carburetor. If I remember correctly it cost ME $72 for the kit of (I think) 10 heli-coils to fix somebody else's carb. I never had to repair those threads again on another carb. I just hope if I do I can find where I put that kit!

So how do you adjust the float itself if the tab has been bent
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y90 Жыл бұрын
Match it up against a good float and if you can straight it do so but afterwards submerge your float for 10 minutes in gas or simular liquid to make sue its not leaking internally, then shake the float and listen for fluid internally. If its dry use it and readjust your float level. Hope this helps.

Thanks for another good video Randy, I have always favored metal over plastic, I never knew a backfire could damage a float like that, thank you for sharing your knowledge, I recommend and enjoy your videos.

Always a real pleasure to watch your videos ! I have a 4776-2 double pumper with dual metering blocks and both plastic floats, and I'm wondering if it came from factory like that !!! I read plastic float arm is shorter to allow gap with metering plate, so it was iniatally built only for that ? The plastic float is the only one that doesn't use a spring Is it right ? Is it because it is heavier or only because of plastic arm shape ? So does it provides same consistent fuel level than others ( brass ans nitrophyl) in the bowls or should it be replaced ? Thank you !
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y904 жыл бұрын
They used plastic floats in a lot of double pumpers and other models , it will clear rear metering plate, and yes it does not use a bumper spring, and they work fine.

Hello Randy is it possible to put a 1450 float bowls on a 1850 ? Thankyou
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y903 жыл бұрын
If you mean put 4150 bowls on a 1850 ,yes you can , have to run nitrophil floats in the secondaries if your using a metering plate .
@gregvanderboom50114 жыл бұрын
Glad you're feeling better. I just finished going through a 4150 and was shocked how much muck was in the bottom of the bowl. My buddy says it's from the ethanol in the gas. Do you have any ideas or tricks to prevent the corrosion caused by the 10 percent ethanol fuel we get here?
@holleycarbshowtosadvice40y904 жыл бұрын
If the carb has been sitting a while the gas will break down and turn to muck, but usually it' takes a high content of alcohol to eat the bowl up, if I set a carb up for a while I drain the bowls and put something like stabil in and drain again when put back in use. Hope this helps
