I used this video for a 2008 F250 Super Duty 5.4 a couple of differences. I did not have to remove any of the drive line. The rear strap flexed enough to go past the driveline and the front strap was easy to unbolt from both sides. Because I used ratchet straps to let it down a few inches after I removed the steel straps I was able to push the tank to the side enough to get to the hose attachments on the top of the tank. Mine had yellow tab push release hoses on the front and rear of the tank, and the big hose on the sending unit was push tab but the blue tab fuel line needed the fuel line disconnector tool. Also, used a coal chisel and hammer to knock the keeper ring counter clockwise to remove it. Cheers, great video.

Hey people don't forget to do the fuel filter, that is more than likely a good reason why the pump burned up. I replaced my filter first and I can tell you that it was so plugged I could not even blow through it, Nothing but sludge and black fuel came out of it when I tapped it on the ground. Good luck and great video!! Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I'm about to do this on my truck. Could you have removed fuel filler hose from the tank instead of disconnecting from filler neck? Looks like it would be easier, but don't know if it is accessible with tank still on the truck.
@skidoorider5856 Жыл бұрын
Too hard to get to, it was easier to disconnect the hose from the filler neck
@lambition Жыл бұрын
@@skidoorider5856 Just replaced fuel pump today. I was able to just pull hose from fuel tank instead of filler neck. Once I lowered fuel tank a little, there was just enough room to loosen the clamp. Then, I was able to push hose off from the space between frame rail and fuel tank. Applying some oil inside of the hose before assembling made it easy to put hose back on. Took me about 3 hours. Now the problem is... My issue was not the fuel pump after all. Wasted money and time. :( I have intermittent fuel pressure issue at idle and I have replaced FPDM, fuel filter, fuel pump, checked grounds, now only remaining problem is fuel pressure sensor. And an advise to those who cannot get quick disconnects with pull tab disconnected. Make sure pull tab is fully out. I couldn't get mine off and it turns out pull tab was not fully out. Pulled it just little bit more and came right off.

I had my fuel pump replaced twice now about 2 weeks apart. Before the pump was replaced, the fuel gauge was fine. Now after both, the gause only reads just over half tank when it is full. Did you have this problem? Or have any clues what it may be
@skidoorider58563 жыл бұрын
No .. I did not have this problem my truck has 139 inch wheelbase and I ordered the pump accordingly to the wheelbase you have to know your truck's wheelbase when you order the fuel pump.. and it doesn't hurt to do a side-by-side comparison to your old one and make sure the bend angles for the float rod are the same
@byronpeters24483 жыл бұрын
Is there a trick to removing the pump? It appears the pump platic housing is larger then the hole????? Is the a certain way the pump comes out and goes in?
@skidoorider58563 жыл бұрын
No when you undo that locking ring the pump should spring upward about an inch then there is a line that connects on the inside of the pump after you remove that you slowly pull it upward and out you may have to angle it a little bit to get the float past the opening as you are removing it
@MrSan-ux8si3 жыл бұрын

You didn't mention how hard it is to get the metal ring off. I used a 1/8 x 6" brass nipple. After smacking my hand a few times I decided to hold the nipple with Vise Grips. 3 good wacks and I had it off. The lines were very hard to get off of the pump. I broke the nipples off. Get the clips off Amazon. You will not be left standing there thinking of using hose clamps on the pump nipples.

@skidoorider58564 жыл бұрын
There are locking tabs on the lines that connect to the fuel pump, I did not put that in the video on how I disconnected the pump. but you do not cut that plastic on those lines or you will be going to the dealer to replace them you have to look at it closely and you can remove them by looking at a how I removed the EVAP line , and how I disconnected the fuel filter line, the Locking Tabs are very similar to those just a different color

REALITY SETS IN: I have dropped at least 100 fuel tanks with some being very difficult and some being very easy. Most people would agree with me when i say If you have to remove the driveshaft it is NOT an "easy" fuel tank removal. If you have to remove the pencil brace and work through a tiny hole to reach hose clamps and cut vent lines it is NOT an easy removal. You are a glass half full optimistic person! I watched this video hoping this was an easy job and i was exuberant at your early claim of "easy job". But, as i watched the video i became deflated seeing this is most definitely NOT an easy job...

i got a question for anyone//// can a fuel pump still not work even though it buzzes loudly... cause my truck wont start but the fuel pump buzzes louder then usaul
@skidoorider58564 жыл бұрын
Definitely, the most distinctive signal is a whining noise. That’s how a worn out or old pump sounds like. A well-working fuel pump usually produces a quiet humming, so once you hear the excessively loud whining, buzzing, or grinding noise be sure that it’s time for the pump to be replaced. But before you pull the tank check the fuel pump driver module housing for corrosion it is located on the frame behind the spare tire
