Fuel Pump Replacement On The 400 Dollar Trans Am!

Last video we got the trans am running but only if we put fuel in the carb. We determined that the fuel pump wasnt working so I ordered a new one. She sort of runs on her own now but it wont idle and its backfiring. Probably needs a tune up and timed. Hit that subscribe button and stay tuned for the next video where I'll try and drive it!

exactly! Fill the carb bowl through top vent before starting

Enjoyed your video brother ! I'm putting new fuel pump on my 60 Catalina. It's really best to prime an empty carb by filling the float bowl, if you can thru the vents, plus put a bit down the carb, EVERY time u try to start it. Much easier on the starter and battery.

Dear Jake... on the Chevy instead of trying to hold the rod with a, screwdriver. On the front of the block there is a bolt remove short bolt. And longer one.. snug it to the push rod install new pump replace short bolt.. easy

Just changed mine on my 72 400. Car won’t start now . I felt resistance when I first tried putting it in so I bumped the key and after that went right in . Now it won’t start . Is it possible the arm is in the wrong position?

Berrymans B12 chemtool down the carb while it’s running should do the trick.

Good video because it shows the routing of a lot of stuff on manifold that i have been unable to find anywhere else. Especial the kickdown bracket for the trans.. first pic i have seen of this.. If you have and extra bracket i will buy it. Let me know!

#1, that carb has a vent at the top you could have filled the bowl with gas. #2, old cars that sit, generally wont start and run sitting on idle. someone should have been operating the throttle while you tried to crank it. i appreciate amateurs getting their hands dirty, this vid is sorta a "what not to do" when trying to bring an old car back to life. jmo.....

Essentially yea. You're only turning the engine over a tiny bit until it's in position

Bigger diameter hose goes from the pump to the tank

I mean bump through engine over like bump the key so the engine turns over just a tiny bit at a time till the pump goes in

You can, you don't really need to it will fill with fuel when you're cranking the engine over

did you have to remove the power steering pump to get to the fuel pump from the top? I need to know. I am trying to get to it from under the car but there is so much in the way. thanks
