Fuel Rats - My First Cat Ambush (Elite: Dangerous)

Hey, how has everyone been? Sorry I've not been uploading as much. I've been busy with lots of things, and trying to repair my laptops motherboard and phone motherboard and trying to take things easy. I have more videos on the way.. like my 200th rescue and 300 subscriber special video.
With that out of the way, here's a detailed story of what happened:

This was my first "Cat" attack/abush in the Three years(2019-2022) I've been fuel ratting.
It started off as a normal routine rescue: CMDR omanuk3958 - System: "LTT 3007" (K Orange dwarf 60.4 LY from Sol) (XB_SIGNAL)
Me and a new untailed/undrilled rattling, Wacky called for this rescue. We both called our jumps, The process was smooth. I was first to report FR+ and after 3 minutes, Wacky reports FR-
Dispatch reminds omanuk3958 to add wacky to their friend list, but instead invites me to the wing. I call WR+ BC+ and prep- and dispatch tells me to invite Wacky to the wing("Sparky, Chain").
I scroll through my contacts to see If Wacky is close by to invite into the wing, but doesn't show up and before I'm able to add Wacky as a friend, I've already nav lock dropped on omanuk3958 and I instantly send fuel..after a little accident with mashing the buttons. After the first Fuel limpet is fired out, omanuk3958 open fires and takes out my life support, bringing my hull down to 20%, then pauses for a moment to then target my FSD and then and then open fires again, bringing my hull down to 17% before finishing me off.
5 miuntues after the incident, omanuk3958 sent me a message on xbox to "apologize" and excuse himself with a story that made barely any sense. Shortly after offering to pay for my rebuy, omanuk3958 then left the wing, before I could decline the offer as I wasn't interested. omanuk3958 requested to send more rats for the purpose of an "easy kill" as he later admited.
Wacky was told to stand down and omanuk3958 was then banned from calling the fuel rats in the future.

My thoughts on this:
Well...My mind completely fell apart, I blanked out the entire procedure if this ever happened and all I could do was sit there and take it. I did want an explanation as to why, and omanuk3958 kindly gave one, which I appreciate..at the very least. I'm honestly glad that I didn't manage to chain wacky in, because as an eager a rat in training, this is not something I personally want any new rat in training to experience.

Well, just got here because I was ganked by omanuk3958, while flying an unarmed exploration vessel. Didn't bother talking with him afterwards.

Pay attention to the squad tags next time. TOCX are a ganker squad. If it's a hollow of their radar, they will always shoot at it.

fuel rats don't see squad tags, pirates, gankers, ect. All they see is someone that's in need of fuel. Also, I personally don't take note of squads tags or who's who, but none of that matters when the person(ganker squad or not) calls the fuel rats.

Unrelated to actual video... What makes a Type-7 your choice for ratting?

funny story, at first It was a joke, I went out on it instead of my normal DBX just to see the reaction and it was quite..the opposite. It turned out that the type-7 did ALOT better than the DBX, I'm cutting off 10ly, but able to carry the extra limpets and a better fuel scoop, I'm honestly able to get to where i need to go alot faster and stay out longer without needing to go back for more limpets, plus I can carry repair limpet and a better AMFU if needed. Ontop of that, It's the least threatening boat, since it's not known for it being able to hold its own in a fight

@@CaptainSparkyFox Thanks for the detailed answer. It was just what I was wondering. I'd assumed that either DBX or Anaconda would be the unquestionable due to range. Do you burn a slot on an FSD Booster?

@@perilousrange yup definitely, fsd booster is well worth it. I would personally pick the dbx though, unless you're good at flying the anaconda, I can't count how many times I've been assigned with new rats with the anaconda, thinking it's the best, but not able to slow down or fly it too well and ramming into the client or me :P Basically though, guardian FSD booster, A rated transfer limpet and engineered FSD booster is all you need.

@@CaptainSparkyFox I haven't done ratting yet, but I do love my DBX. I've got it at 71 or 72 outfitted comfortably. Booster is the only Guardian that I've put forth the effort thus far. Just curious, in your experience, how far is the distance for your average rescue?

@@perilousrange usually about 3-4 jumps, mostly in the bubble and on rare occasions(if there's nothing going on) in the Pleiades then its 6-7 but the furthest I've ever went out is past cats paw when i had to escort someone back, it took a while but i got them there, but average, id honestly say 2/3-4
