thank you for this tip!! I have a 1999 silverado, and I took off the drivers rear tire. I got to it from the outside. It was super easy, the rubber seal got stuck in the tank but a small screw driver popped it right out. It was not hard but you cant see a thing. I didnt loosen the tank either, there was plenty of room up there.

Tried it on my 2009 Silverado 4x4 with a 5.3 to get rid of a P0446. Got it out fairly easy but putting the new one in was tough. Couldn.t get enough leverage to push it in . Bought a sleeve and two bolts that I could lengthen a little bit at a time so I could push it in. All is well now. Thanks for posting this.

Did the check engine light disappear right away or did it have to be driven for a little while?
@girlthatfixesthings4 жыл бұрын
The engine light went off right away, but if you are planning on taking it to get an emissions inspection you will likely have to drive it a while first. Most of the time there is a "drive cycle" you have to go through before it will pass inspection after the light goes off.

It should be the same sensor so it should have that clip on the side to feel for. As far as how much clearance you have once you get under the car I'm not sure. Ive never worked on an Impala. But if you can find a place where you can get to the top of the gas tank and feel around, you might be able to find it.

Bc I just had the same problem and idk what to do
@Itsall2BaD Жыл бұрын
@@kevinperez8488 yah, after panicking the only options we had was to cut a hole in the bed of the truck or unbolt the fuel tank. So we did the 2nd option but with 2 people its not as bad as you think. I wouldn't recommend doing it by yourself. Make sure you have a jack in place on the back end to support the tank as its being unbolted and try to keep it semi level. You only need to lower it enough to get ur arm in there. The tricky part was trying to get the old one off after the top sheared off and after many attempts eventually it fell inside the tank. I tried prying it out first, then gently screwing a tiny screw into the top where it sheared so I had something to grab onto to pull it out and thats when it fell in. Not ideal but what could I do? That was a year ago and its still running fine but just be extra cautious so it doesnt happen to you. I couldn't find any other way. Maybe u can put a dab of 5min epoxy onto something and let it dry, so you can pull it out. But space makes it hard to do anything with ease plus theres other shit in the way on top of there.

I dropped my fuel tank on my 2000 chevy express 3500, but it looks like I have a cheap aftermarket fuel pump, without a fuel tank pressure sensor. It has a socket for it to be placed into be there is no wire/cable leading to the sensor, only leading to the main module for the fuel pump. Any ideas? I think I might just have to entirely replace the fuel pump. I'm not sure about that year model 3500 express. If there isn't a wire going to it, I wonder if it even had a sensor to start with? Not sure what year that started on the 3500s. What kind of issue are you having? Is it just throwing a code or is it not running right?

@@girlthatfixesthings it is running rough. The fuel economy is very poor, poor acceleration, occasional stalling as well. I got a different code yesterday, but it comes and goes. @@viktourdesmond4346 I wasn't sure on that so I asked someone more experienced than me. He says if you unplug the MAF sensor the computer reverts to a speed density tune which means it will still run rough. Because if it is faulty it has probably already reverted to that tune in the computer.
