FBR is not at all the same entity the boys originally signed with. In June of 2018, it was absorbed by Elektra. Then in 2022, it was merged with 300 entertainment. So technically the label still exists but has changed hands so many times and of course still under the WMG umbrella. I'm grateful they've been able to keep some much creative control but we uave no way of knowing what kinds of battles the boys have had to face behind the scenes.

It's really annoying to see them treat the marketing like this. TOP is one of their biggest bands, the 2 most viewed videos on FBR's channel are literally TOP videos. Even Scaled and Icy had better marketing than Clancy.

100% I was really disappointed with the Fob promo last year. They had such a cool concept with smfsd. The album is so good. And Clancy is so good. Like even if an album isn’t good a label should be getting out their musicans music and content.

It's insane to me how they hit #2 on Billboard 200 without any type of promotion. Just goes to show how amazing this band is and how much their music resonates with people. But yeah, this label is no longer what it used to be. They were absorbed twice, and TØP is basically the last big band that's signed to them. Fall Out Boy left, Paramore left, and I believe sooner or later the boys will leave too.

The dumbest part of this is TOP is Fueled’s cash cow without Paramore, peak Fallout Boy, Panic! doing much these days. The biggest issue with them is when they got merged by Warner into Elektra in 2018. Things have kinda went down the toilet since then. It went from a very for bands by bands indie label to a cog in an insane machine that no one gives a crap about. I honestly think Tyler and Josh could go indie and stop paying people to do jobs they basically do themselves.

I've been saying the same thing! I would love to see them go independent and regain complete autonomy. They have such a grassroots loyal fan base that they could pull it off. I'm holding out hope that that's what will happen as part of the final battle after the tour. I despise the music industry as it is right now.

I have been thinking about this for awhile. ToP is famous for raging at the music industry (and it's fair conplaints too). Taylor Swift broke with her label and I have been wondering if this will become more common. Her sucess should be a warning to labels that if they drop the ball or are too controlling artists are gonna leave and do just fine. TOP should do the same thing. Probably the main reason they haven't is the legal complications and the logistics of having to rerecord everything. And possibly also because they started indie while unknown and initially signing with FBR was a sign of success, and a weight off their shoulders because they didn't have to do all the work anymore...like promotion.

I've had a gut feeling since this era started and i really started listening to their catalog that they planned to separate from FBR and either go independent or start their own label. Finding out Tyler produced one of the songs on Shania Twain's latest album also added weight to this thought. This video put another piece of evidence on the table, if they are separating it's likely already arranged and FBR just dgaf Love your videos, thank you for this rant 😂❤

I would think that their contract with FBR would be up at some point. You’d think FBR would make an effort to promote them in order to keep them on the label - unless perhaps that ship had sailed and top is planning to leave so they’ve just given up entirely.

Not sure how much this is connected to FBR marketing, but I've been very surprised by the chart performance of individual songs off of Clancy when compared to previous albums. It's been awhile since they made an impact on the Hot 100, but they usually tear it up in the alternative charts. Even SAI, an album most casual fans would say was a 'flop', had multiple #1 alternative songs that stayed up top for multiple weeks (Shy Away, The Outside, and Saturday). Trench had three #1s as well (Jumpsuit, Chlorine, and The Hype), and Blurryface was obviously a huge hit. While it is early, Clancy has had ZERO #1 songs which is insane to me as there are multiple songs on it that have strong radio potential (Next Semester, Routines, Midwest Indigo, Oldies Station, etc.).

The sad thing is, is the bands that are with fueled by ramen have some of the most intense fans. Like Twenty One Pilots and im pretty sure Panic at the disco is or was Fueled by Ramen. Minus 2 massive hits that both bands had on the radio (TOP= ride and stressed out Panic= high hopes and hey look ma i made it) no one would know who they are. But noth Panic and ESPECIALLY TØP have INTENSE fans. There are a lot of us but no where near people like T Swift, Beiber, Drake, Adele, ect. But my god are the fueled by ramen bands fans some of the loudest and most intense. I wish the label would be as intense as us. But hey, even without the labels promotions, Clancy STILL topped charts around the world. We are The Many, The Proud, and The Emotional

It still took a few years before that became a staple of PATD. Unless you knew about them, they really gained their traction during the Pray For The Wicked era

But even then, there are people ALL OVER KZbin that are reacting to Clancy that has never even heard of TOP before until they hear the titles "stressed out" or "ride". But either way, there are so many new people that are now talking about TOP and Clancy.

THEORY TIME I know what you’re thinking: I AINT READIN THAT, but just bare with me here. Ok so you know how top recently added 2 more songs onto vessel, making self titled, vessel, blurryface, and trench all have 14 songs each, leaving sai with 11 and Clancy with 13? Well I reckon that they are going to release and ep with 3 of the ep songs going onto sai and 1 going onto Clancy. In the first three songs Clancy will be seized ( which I feel like make sense considering the ending of paladin, with Nico having a hold on Clancy) and the last song Clancy will break free from the cycle. That song will be on Clancy. I put the 3 ep songs onto sai because it follows the same theme of being controlled by the bishops and the last one on Clancy because Clancy will put his rebellion in full force against the bishops in this song, which matches with Clancy being an album of rebellion against the bishops ( also because this would make it so that every top album has 14 songs on it ). This theory actually makes a lot of sense if you think about the Clancy seized for ep thing

It isn't just promotional either. FBR, Atlantic Records, and WMG dropped the ball for Clancy so hard. Of course you have the promotional failure, but purchases for the era so far have been really shotty, and there was the whole country blocking for some if not all songs and such with Next Semester. Furthermore, videos uploading the PS music video teaser have been stricken down. A strike is no laughing matter and they were thrown around all willy nilly. I'm very disappointed with FBR, AR, & WMG.

It is just really bad analysis of the marketing and promotion. I don’t try to defend Fueled by Ramen, maybe they really did a bad job. However, I can’t be sure that they failed. You’ve just looked at SMM part and yes it is not as good as it should have been. However, there is still a lot of other promotion work. Merch and different versions of albums (they did great there), outside ads, targetting ads, bizdev and collaborations with music stores and streaming services, organization of listening parties and there’s more and more, things we don’t even know about. So, here I don’t try to defend the label (actually I don’t think they did a good job, just because it looks like that the album was popular among people, who were fans already, it doesn’t look like that other groups who might have been intersted knew about an album release), but it’s just a weak video and analysis that doesn’t show anything about promotion in whole.

I'm pretty sure that it wasn't like that, since the only high quality produced mv are Overcompensate, Navigating and Paladin Strait. Everything else wasn't high quality. Next Semester maybe costed like 2,500$ max. Backslide was maybe like a 200$. Midwest Indigo was like 250$. RItN was like 50$ and Vignette was pretty much free. The Craving (single) was like 100$ and (Jenna's) was 11 years. Lavish was 200$ (for the limousine and fuel lol) and Snap Back was the cost of a literal shaver. Oldies Station was like 200 dollars for the wooden planks and the pipes and atRoFD was maybe 50$ for renting a skyscraper and the haybale. (Note that I don't count things like instruments since they did have them before and they don't buy them everytime they make a new mv. Also some prices may be EXTREMELY off so just correct me in the comments, thanks.)

@@Szynka666 have you ever tried to make a music video with $50 good luck. I can tell you even the DIY ones, Mark hiring the cameras, all his time editing was not cheap. Also the rental of the limo in Lavish. Vignette has some pretty expensive lighting in it. the drone shot. It was not free at all

The lighting in RITN wouldn't have been cheap. They may have already had it, but it would not have been cheap. Again, Mark's time editing i'm sure he did not do it for free.
