Years later, I find myself coming back to this song. This band was dealt a great disservice, along with a lot of female lead bands during the era. They all were compared to each other and made to seem like it was a battle royale of who could be the prominent female lead "rock" vocalist band. It's balarky, I tell you! They were all amazing!

This song is good and the vocalist is excellent, but the most impressive part of this song is the sound space. On a high quality system, it sounds like this band is literally playing in front of you, everything is so clear, vocals, guitar, bass and drums are totally individual on the sound registration. Whoever mixed this song is a literal sound engineering genius. In this age, i wish more mixers and producers could produce this kind of sound quality. Also when the vocalist screams 'tryin' at 2:06-2:07 and you hear that distortion in her yell, that's passion, so many rock vocalists lack that, it's awesome to hear.
@gaborbiro8153 жыл бұрын
Thought exactly the same when I found them on Tidal, the mixing on this whole album is just something else.... Especially on Mythology (at least for me).
@maximusaralieous17283 жыл бұрын
@@gaborbiro815 It's really a lost art form these days. Sometimes I hear a rock song from the 90s and you can hear every instrument clearly separated from each other and the quality surprises me. You still hear it from time to time now, but a lot less than 20 - 30 years ago.
@gaborbiro8153 жыл бұрын
@@maximusaralieous1728 Could not agree more.... I got into this whole hifi thing about a year ago, and I remember I just couldn't wait to get my speaker set, and re listen every single song I know just to discover new details, that a regular speaker set won't show.... But to be honest at first I was really disapointed because when I was listening to my favourite songs I didn't get that wow feel I was expected. It took me some time to realise that it's because most of the times music in the modern era is not mixed as well (at least the ones that I listen to) as the 90s and 2000s music. And this really took me by surprise.... That's why I started listening to older songs. And I remember searching for new music on Tidal, and when I saw the album cover with that vulture and I got that feeling that this will be a good band (I can't explain....:D) so I clicked, started started listenening, and I was like "Holy **** this sounds unbeliveable" and since than I have a new favourite band....:D It's a shame they not making music anymore :(((((((
@maximusaralieous17283 жыл бұрын
@@gaborbiro815 I think what makes the 90s a prime era for mixing is because CDs were just really starting to be used widely for music and they were a massive upgrade in sound quality to cassette tapes that had dominated the way music had been listened to for two decades. So at that time there was a lot of emphasis to really maximize the quality of mixing and mastering. Of course not every album sounded amazing, but a lot did. The 90s music industry was also just flush with cash, CD sales were crazy. In my experience you really start to hear a decline in sound quality around 2009 and 2010. Rampant music piracy was really starting to show its impact on the industry by then, production quality took a huge hit. It's good to see people still getting into high quality sound for music. I hope more people get interested in HD services like Tidal and Amazon Music HD. I still buy CDs myself and rip them to my computer on Wav Lossless(CD quality) not only to listen on headphones and in my car, but to preserve my CDs better as well. I love trying to get the best out of music. I have a decent 2.1 stereo I hook my computer to when listening and I've built up my sound system in the living room. It is a shame this band isn't active anymore, but at least they left behind a damn good sounding record.

I had the biggest crush on Sierra when I was 12 and 13. But also this band was so different from the other bands in its scene back in the day and FBR did them so dirty. The shit they were putting out for Another Atmosphere was really ahead of its time too, really predictive of the age of electronic rock that's become popular years later, even with acts that came before them, like for instance, Jack White's album from 2018. This band would have a really big cult following and a lot of respect to their name if they'd been on a label that wanted something for them.

Can someone explain why when someone is out they are always compared? is it not fair to say Paramore is awesome in its own style where Versaemerge is awesome in its other? just because they are female led doesn't mean they need to be contrasted against one another. Both have uniquely voiced, talented female leads. It's like comparing Metallica and Sabbath, Jay-Z and Kendrick or Justin Timberlake and Jackson because they are males in the same genre. Just enjoy the music boys and girls.
@ska-ventures97769 жыл бұрын
+Wayn-DD I agree with you on this and about comparing those bands and artists. I mean, the fact that Paramore changed from Alt. Punk and Emo Punk to Pop, the important thing is Hayley Williams still has her powerful voice. Like, its ok to hate the fact they turned Pop, but I still enjoy the old and new. Im A huge Paramore fan. Its like comparing Paramore to No Doubt. No Doubt has it where they keep their style, but change the essence in it, but not by destroying their music style for no reason. I agree with what you're saying.ENJOY the music, man.
@efadfa37 жыл бұрын
I didn't notice that comparing scheme, however the second I heard her I though "wait is that Hayley?". They're being compared cause they sound alike. Jay-Z and Kendrick sound different, and all the other people you mentioned. Paramore is just more known so it's the first thing that comes to one's mind. It has nothing to do with being female or that someone is taking her talent away from her. Also pretty sure male artists also get compared. I won't give you examples, cause I never remember that shit, I can't even think of another female artist constantly being compared to someone else.
