My sister introduced me to Fun.....so many years ago. Before this album. But I was going through treatment for breast cancer when this was released. I had no desire to go out and be with anyone and my sister dragged me to their concert. I locked eyes with young woman there with her daughter. And we knew, we recognized each others as survivors. We held hands and sang as loud as we could through this song. It gave me hope. I lost my sister in October, I'm trying to find that hope again. This song and that amazing memory I have, of that amazing concert..it helps.

Over six years ago I heard this song for the first time on a night that I was in a really dark place. It was the very end of high school- I had went on a date with the girl I had a crush on all through HS and it went terribly, and this song helped me cheer up, and indeed, to carry on. There obviously wasn't a second date coming. I was heartbroken. I thought I had blew my one shot at love in life. I was too so defeated that I didnt even think about the fact that college was coming, and with that, a lot of new chances at love. A lot has come and gone since that night six years ago- friends, relationships, jobs... But every so often I still come back to this song and think about how far I've positively come from that high school senior kid crying in my room, and how good of a message this song carries.

I'm not an outwardly emotional person normally but this song on the occasions I hear it makes me teary because it too brings me back to a bad time & place . It was August 2014 and I was on month four of being unemployed and getting exactly nowhere finding a new career...spent almost every single day alone in my apartment staring at internet job boards until my eyes bled , submitting applications and resumes to never be heard back from. Unemployment had run out. Terrified of spending money on anything aside from basics like food. I lost my appetite from the depression and dropped 25 pounds from barely eating and was getting frequent light headed spells. I distinctly remember standing on my kitchen looking out the window on yet another waste of a nice summer day inside feeling like I just gave up. Screw it... I'm out of fight, out of gas, out of ideas , out of energy, out of hope of working again and just accept that I'm going to blow through my savings and have to move back in with my parents like a 39 year old loser. This song came on the cable music channel I happened to have on and it seemed to be one of those "right place at the right time" moments in life. I did get a new gig three weeks later (turned out to be a crappy job but got me working again) and carried on from there to better things.

@@infantryhawk oh no, the "pity date" lol Its a date which is good but only agreed to for the wrong reasons which is bad lol I hear you on that one. Is there anything in the world worse than being with a lovely gal and straining to make her laugh or keep good conversation going or make yourself seem fun & interesting? I used to do that on the phone many years ago with someone and knew exactly how a comedian feels when he's dying on stage in front of a silent crowd

Hey there fellow traveler, stop for a second and read this: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." ~ John 3:16 Life is too short to just throw it away. Live it right for God, love God, and inherit eternal life in God's kingdom ❤️. The new Kingdom will be free of the curse of sin (death, suffering, violence, disease, evil, etc.) A true, spiritual journey awaits you! 🕊❤️ I was a militant atheist for years and later dabbled in the occult. I never imagined I would be a Christian. I hated the religion. However, I had a supernatural encounter with Jesus that completely changed me and my life. Nothing this world can offer you even compares to knowing Jesus. His peace, love, and joy transcends all. Jesus Christ loves you, He is your Creator ❤️🕊🙏 Seek Him with a genuine heart and He will reveal His existence to you. The truth shall make you free, friends! (John 8:32) ❤️🕊🙏

I lost my job, I couldn't continue paying for college, and I fell drastically like a stone to the ground, I felt alone and I was alone for a long time since the pandemic began (for me the strongest and saddest experience of my life). literally, i watched my world collapse, still I managed to carry on, yes Carry on!, now I tell to everyone "May your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground", I got a new job a week ago, I hope to go back to college during the summer and carry on and meet my goals! greetings to all.

I was a happy, light-hearted teenager when this masterpiece came out. 9 years later I feel "lost, alone and sinking like a stone". Listening to this song reminds me of better times, when adulthood was far and life was easier and my biggest worry was to pass the math test! I often get caught up in feelings of nostalgia and anguish, but I don't want this bad period to last forever. Next year I want to go back to university and take my DREAMS back and meet my GOALS! ❤️ In the meantime I pray God to give me strength and just... Carry on. If, for some reason, you're having a difficult time, know that you are not alone. Many of us come here looking for the joy and comfort of good, teenage memories. Do not fear and do not give up, just trust God and carry on. ❤️

Now the beginning is where I was and the ending is where I am now.
