Fueling Motorcycle while on Bike. How To Add Gas & Operate Overflow Switch for Motorcycles

This is a short video on how to add gas to your motorbike. If the gas pump has a flexible neck with the pressure switch, you'll need to deactivate the overflow switch. Warning, you have to be careful to not spill fuel down the gas tank sides. Any fuel that runs down the tank, could cause a fire or explosion.

Thank you for watching. Video was meant for “all” motorcycle owners and was created because a motorcycle burnt down to the ground last week at the gas station. I removed Honda ST1300 out of the description. For common sense users, or experienced users, this video may make no sense.

I think, you have more expensive gas in the west than we have in eastern of Canada or equal. I pay between 160-185Can$ for 91st. I'm doing sometimes with same way, like you, if machine accept card paiment( in Canada we have a lot of old style gasstation without card payment), but my wife usually assist me, because she always riding with me during the summer. What I never do, Mike, I never use kill switch. I think it made for emergency situation and can damage a bike if your using it all the time. This is my personal opinion. What do your think about this?

Hello thank you for watching and great to hear from you again. My wife and I will do the same thing at the pump. She will usually go inside if the pump doesn't accept credit cards especially when we see our children and grandchildren in Victoria BC. On the kill switch I agree with you. The problem with some of the kill switches it's not activated correctly and the nozzle will turn off prematurely inside the gas tank leaving an extra half a gallon or two liters of fuel to add. This is the part where inexperienced fuel nozzle users have to be very careful not to overflow fuel and spill on the sides of the “inner” fuel tank. A very hot engine could cause gasoline fumes to ignite and explode. So I'm with you just be careful and don't fuel any higher than I did on the video. Hope all is well on your side of Canada. ​@@MotoTouringWorldWide , Ride save and enjoy your trip. 👍 Vancouver is not too far from you. This is good. One my daughter living in Winnipeg and I never been in her home. Is too far away for me. They visit us, but not often: once per three-four year.
