Great video. Just came across it by accident. Quick bit of advice. Before retracting the slideouts, do a walkaround outside to ensure there's no obstructions in the vicinity of the slideouts. Just as you vacuum up any debris inside where the slideouts move, checking outside for obstructions is really important. If you already did that but didn't show it in the video, then kudos to you guys,

On the surge protector the melted socket is usually caused by resistance, your plug did not connect to the socket tight and heat resistance built up. Clean the plug connectors and check if you have a good connection with your new surge protector. You may want to check if all of the AC wire connections are tight on the power panels, etc.

I like how you take rv seriously and do your safety checks well. Wish you good travels. Being a 34 years trucker tips would be check your lights, signals and tire pressure and wear. Also when driving keep your hand out of the inside of the steering wheel. I was professionally taught this, had should be on top or sides incase the steering wheel box breaks. The wheel will spin so fast that it will break your thumb or hand. Also look into leaning the Smith system. Cheers.

The fuel and rest stops always add a couple hours to the trip. An old fellow told me to do the 330 rule, 330 miles or try to get off the road by 330. We have thoroughly enjoyed the journey. We are retired, and we have seen many great things in the USA. Safe travels and God bless you all.

Most of our travel days in our Class A were pretty close to 300 miles; it's about all I can do without getting too road weary. Not safe to push it for speed or total time in a machine that big, plus you need energy to hook in at the of the day. All good; love your channel, and I love Class A's.

Nice video. The most probable cause of the melted connection on the surge suppressor is simply a bad connection. When a connection gets loose, dirty, or corroded, the resistance in that connection goes up. The higher the resistance, the greater the voltage drop across it and the greater the heat it produces. If it gets bad enough to arc, the heat can be tremendous (like an arc welder) and breakers will not necessarily trip. Routinely check the connectors on your devices (shore cord, extension cords, surge suppressors, and the connection to the camp's pedestal) to make sure they are clean and tight. You will probably need to clean the male sides occasionally with fine (400 grit) sandpaper or a scotchbrite pad to keep the grungies at bay.

Love full time rving, but I do Thousand trails and save in dollars about your campground budget each year. I do some boondocking even in a 40' 4-slide Monaco. It is important to me that stay under budget. This lifestyle is expensive so I try not to be lured to glitz or glitter. I have a permanent site in the mountains of NC, and winter in Florida or south Texas. 50 years rving and still love it. 13 years retired. Happy Travels

Smokey & B - “loaded up & truckin’ we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done!” Appreciate your courtesy/comment to trucks! Our rules: max work 14 hrs in 24, max drive 11 hrs in the 14 hrs, must take a 30 min break from driving prior to 8 hrs driving. If, we take a 30 min break prior to driving 3.25 hrs will have to do it again if wanting to drive full 11 hrs. Truck stop showers usually very clean, if ever convenient for your tanks. I use Loves, we truckers can turn on a pump from the Loves APP, great in bad weather!

I completely agree with you. There is no better way to travel than in a Class A. We absolutely love ours and those big captains chairs are so comfy. My wife has to use the bathroom a lot. With the motorhome there is no more stopping at every other exit. Now she just goes while I drive. Amazingly snacks and drinks seem to come back with her. Lol!!! 😂

Just food for thought! Tension rods in refrigerator will hold things in place 😊! Museum putty hold all decor in place. Hobby lobby, home Depot, etc. I have used this for several years.amy brands. Traveling w kids: get prep everything while the kids keep sleeping. There is ONE slide I need to leave open until they get up and out of the rig. I wake up 3 hours before we are to leave, I wake my hubs 2 hours before we are about to leave, we have tried just waking the kids when it’s time to go but we have found it’s best to wake them an hour before.

As a truck driver, I've never minded large RV's next to me at rest areas. Btw, my company mostly fuels at Love's. The CEO of my company is friends with the CEO of Love's. That's also why you see pics of our trucks (Freymiller) in Love's advertisements.

We always try to be respectful of truck drivers especially when rest stops are really busy and not many spots are available. We have to share the road but know people like you are out there working hard and not driving for recreational purposes like us 😂

I have a home in Baton Rouge, La and in Davenport, Fla. that I travel between every 4-6 weeks for the last 6 years alone. That is 740 +/- miles and takes 12 hours with time change. I do it in a single run. I have my go-to Loves stops for food and fuel. It isn't bad if you get into audio books. Bought my Class C 3 years ago with about 20k miles and she now has 180k miles on the clock.

Think of it this way. An RV is a house on wheels. We have household appliances, furniture, etc. Now imagine that your current house had to survive through multiple earthquakes each day. Our RV/Home on wheels essentially goes through an earthquake every time we hit a speed bump, pothole, rough roads, etc. 😀

We're comfortable for sure, but depends on how you define 'serious money'. We sold our house to be able to afford this and both still work full time. We've saved a lot and made sacrifices early on in life to afford things now. It's not cheap, but we spend less now than we did owning a house. Lots of way this lifestyle can be affordable. Nice overview and beautiful American Dream. All the holding tank sensors on your American Dream are not thru tank probe sensors, they are either the sonic type (adhered to the outside) or pressure (weight) sensors, yes they are historically inaccurate. Not the Power Watchdog surge protector issue, it's either a dirty, corrosion or loose blade (male) or spade end which will cause very high resistance, with high resistance comes high heat. Clean and inspect the power cord blades. Safe Travel

You can do bacon in the microwave, just 1 minute for every slice/rasher of bacon you are cooking. When you stop and use the generator, it should be fine.

I make this drive 2-4 times a year driving from Charlotte to Ft. Wayne Indiana to visit family. Usually start around 6am and get there at 4-5pm. It isn't terrible but the first stretch thru WV is very draining because of all the mountain driving then you have to deal with the sheer boredom of Ohio having nothing worth looking at after you get past the southern 1/3rd of the state.
