I'm so very happy you had a safe trip. In I think, 1977, when traveling through Mexico was still pretty safe, I was in the University of Arizona Marching Band in Tucson, the Governor of Sonora, Mexico, invited the band, all 210 of us, to march and perform for them in their Carnivale in Guaymas. We rode in very comfortable modern busses down very good roads to Nogales, AZ. Then we had to cross into Mexico on foot through the border offices where we were then picked up by very uncomfortable Mexican busses. They took us over very rough roads to a two-story motel outside of Guaymas where sand came out of the shower heads. It was right on a rocky beach that had a nice boardwalk which we enjoyed in the evenings after our duties of the day were finished. We stayed there for 3 days and had to march in their parades every day and give concerts in the city square twice a day. The busses would pick us up every morning and take us into the city for our day. It took a long time for the restaurant to feed all of us for each breakfast and lunch, but they fed us very well. We were brought back to our motel after our 2nd concert and were on our own for dinner. A group of us discovered a very nice resort nearby our motel where we had a really great meal. On our last day after our morning concert, the Governor had invited us to a brand new resort further up the coast where we were treated like his guests of honor and had a wonderful brunch outside with a live band and dance floor. That resort had a really nice beach. The Governor greeted us and thanked us for our performances. We headed back home the same way we had come, tired but filled with happy memories. It is one of my favorite memories from college. I often wonder if we were part of the reason Mexico became interested in having their own school marching bands that you can see now every year invited to the Tournament of Rose's Parade.

How fun! About 30 years ago, my husband, our three oldest children, my mother and I along with a few cousins went down to Rocky Point and camped in tents at a campground with big walls around it. I can't remember the name of the campground. But it seems it was on the south side of the town, and it was right on the beach. It was so fun! That low tide is amazing. We had gone to Disneyland with the children, but they liked the beach so much more. The town looks a lot bigger now. I did get trapped by a hidden stop sign. There was a big delivery truck right in front of it so I couldn't see it. Immediately a police man walked over and stopped me. I couldn't speak Spanish but two of my cousins were with me, one who could speak a little Spanish. She got me out of the situation.

I got side-tracked by the purple muscle car you drive by when you get to the 28:08 mark. I had one like that way back when but, not quite so ornate.

David and Sondra sálate from Mexico City. I just want to tell you that you are the best all the pictures and scenes you take in the north, south, east or west are incredible. Your travel into Mexico and the food was just a wish for me to visit that part of. Mexico but when you say “Oh that’s wild” it looks that we Mexicans are wild. That we live in the wilderness, and you know what? You are right you are totally right. The stop signs was really funny. I want to invite you to visit other sites of Mexico take a fly and visit Cabo’s or Riviera Maya or the beaches in Oaxaca let you be treated like king and queen in a five star hotel or visit Mexico City and see the magnificence of the museums and the Aztec ruins. Pyramids. My best wishes in your travels and God bless you always. And remember living in the wilderness is some times very fun.

Thank you. We plan to travel down to Baja in the future and see the other areas of Mexico. When we say "that's wild", we mean that it is very different from our expectation or what we're used to and familiar. It's part of the reason to visit other countries is to be exposed to those "wild things". We love the food, culture and people of Mexico which is why we continue to travel there. Gracias for your comments and watching the channel.

Glad you made it to Mexico! I wonder why they have stop signs with stop lights (unless they get power outages frequently and the lights go out?). Hard enough to find your way but also to have to watch for those hidden stop signs!! Sondra, your photos are AWESOME! David, your jokes are the best! Why Arizona? 🤣🤣🤣
@bigtruckbigtravels8 ай бұрын
Thanks... as always. I think the lights were new and they haven't yet removed the signs. It was a bit confusing!

So impressed with how you were able to really pack thinks on the Smart Car. You should be getting some sponsorship $ from Mercedes-Benz for that demonstration! Also impressed how your tent held up to the wind on the beach.

Do you mind sharing rates? Are reservations needed? Or can we just show up? We’re still working folk in Canada 🇨🇦 looking for a spot to kinda boondock for a month each winter.
@bigtruckbigtravels8 ай бұрын
@reganmccutcheon7988 no reservations needed. Just show up. Usually all the beachfront sites are full but it's actually nicer a little further back near the top of the "hill". It's $22/night which includes use of the bathrooms, showers, wifi at office and the dump station. Drinkable water is brought in at a fee.
