To prevent any nose mishaps, I set the touch screen area in EVF mode to right half of the screen only. That enables the 4 swipe functions during EVF use but prevents inadvertent focus point changes. If your nose is very big, you can also set a quarter of the screen only to be in touch mode during EVF use.

Thanks for this... I'm coming from X100,and X-T4and couldn't figure out why the Q menu box that shows custom settings on those cameras only shows P-A-S-M on the X-S10. Overall I love the X-S10. I like the "traditional" Fuji dials a lot, but the size and the amazingly good grip on the X-S10 make it a really pleasant camera to use. It doesn't have a the bells and whistles of the XT cameras, but for 99% of my photography, I don't use them anyway.

@@ThomasBusbyPhotography To clarify the view mode question: I mean the view modes "eye sensor (always on, switches between screen and EVF) - default", "screen only", "EVF only", "EVF only with eye sensor". The last one keeps everything off unless you put your eye to the EVF, which is why it is popular for conserving battery. My question: if you are in the default mode - the first one, where either the screen or the EVF are on at all times (using eye sensor as switch), can you fold away the screen to force the screen off, and what happens to the EVF in that case? Is it always on, or is it off and turns on only when putting your eye to the EVF? In that case, folding away the screen would be a mechanical way to reach the battery-saving "EVF only eye sensor" mode, without needing the view mode button, so you can use it for AF switching like you did.

@ThomasBusbyPhotography2 жыл бұрын
There are a lot of things to consider when trying to do this. 1: is the Permanent damage you can do to your sensor form such a Long Exposure, it generates a lot of heat and I would suggest even doing a lot of 15min Exposure as I personally have burnt out Fuji sensors within a few years. 2: if heavily recommend looking into stacking lots of 1-5minute shots to get the same effect but with less risk to your sensors. 3: yes with a external shutter release and the bulb setting Hope this all helps, cheers

Hi Thomas, I’ve used the XE1, XT2 & XH1 from Fuji. As I’ve developed as a photographer my style has moved away from using the retro top dials for people photography and I enjoy employing the front and back command dials with AEL/AF ON and maybe spot metering. The AEL and AF On buttons are easily the nicest/largest and easiest to find on the XH1. Just wondering how you find those back function buttons on the XS1? Also can you lock AEL (if they have a button) and then move the AF point. On the XH1 it freezes, but I here on XT3 and XT4 it can be moved after. Activating the AEL button.

Great content, and great experimentation. I find I change view mode very rarely (mostly to save battery in EVF-only with eye sensor mode, which here you can probably get by just folding away the screen - tried that out?), so the additional function button is welcome. I'd be really interested to know if this camera supports rapid switching between ambient and flash shooting. Is it possible to turn the PSAM dial between A and M or C1 and simultaneously change both shutter speed and ISO from auto-auto to manual-manual? It seem from the camera manuals online that the custom modes can only remember aperture and shutter speed but not ISO, which would be a huge bummer. :( Do you still have the camera to try this?
@problemat1que4 жыл бұрын
PS: My only Fujifilm with a PSAM dial is the veritable X30, which has only one ISO setting, so whatever you used last, is still the ISO after switching from A to M, which means I still need to make two changes between ambient light and flash photography.

As your video also shows, the problem with Fujis is the magenta skin tones. No matter which Fuji you get, you get these weird magenta looking faces. I bought an X-T200 yesterday, but only for some photography (since in RAW I can change a lot of things easier), but I don't keep my hopes up for its 8bit video mode. The moment you will try to color grade it to change things significantly and fix the weird colors, it will break apart.

I haven't had any issues with skin tones at all, and do most of my adjustments in camera. In fact id go so far as to love them.

@@ThomasBusbyPhotography Sorry, I found your video having magenta skin tones, and that's true for most other fuji videos I've seen too. Additionally, the strong IR filter that Fuji cameras use remove all yellow color from greenery too, in shaded conditions there is no shine on greenery. Very unfilmic, despite the claims for film emulation (at least for video).
